Stayed 6 nights in Hotel Rhino, Kyoto, Japan Guest Rating: 4.5

We stayed in hotel Rhino 6 nights and were satisfied with the romm and service. Hotel is located with 1 min walk from the railway station. Hotel has 9 floors with 2 big fast lifts, free Internet in the room, bycicles for rent. Room is pretty big (by Japaneese standards). We didn't take hotels breakfast, just bought fresh French bread from the neighbour store.

Good hotel, clean and renovated, free Internet in the room, staff frendly and speak English, good location, reasonable price.

There is excellent bus connection with the hotel from Kyoto station. Be informed. It is not necessary to take taxi.

At first we thought the hotel was located a bit outside the center of the city but it was easy to take a bus or taxi in to the city. The area around the hotel is full of activity but it is not disturbing at the hotell room. A variety of resturants around the hotel.

• Restaurant Tip : We can recommend the Teriaky resturant and there is a lot of other resturants in the area.

We particularly appreciated the effort of the young woman at the desk who helped Matt find the location of our church. Matt showed her the address and asked her if she knew where it could be found. She spent several minutes on mapquest looking for it. Then came back having verified the address and taped together a map with enough information to find the church. Being able to attend church made a tremendous difference for my husband and I. It made our visit to Kyoto even more wonderful.

• Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We benefited from the bus tour of Kyoto. The pick up point is only a short train ride from the Rhino.

Great Stay Guest Rating: 4.5

Kyoto is an amazing city, but can be very crowded. The all-day bus pass is a great value, only 500 yen and can take you all around the city.

• Nightlife Tip : Next to the hotel, on the fifth floor, you will find Kame's Bar. Kame's is an awesome Japanese bar! We stayed there until 5am talking and having a great time with the owner, bartenders and patrons, despite the fact that they only spoke a little English. When I return to Kyoto, I must go there again!
