- Price - Good enough conditions

- Too hot inside, you really need to use the air conditioning

I was happy with the conditions of the hotel, except that the room gets too hot if you turn of the air conditioning. The clerks speak english very well. It's not in a very central location. I would rather have something closer to the train station. But it has a metro line that gets you fast to the center, and the bus takes about 20 minutes to get to the train station.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Use the bus network, it's the easiest way to get around Kyoto. A bus pass costs 500yenes per day. Get a bus network map.

Active and vibrant neighborhood. Close to public transport. Restaurants/bars abound.

Rooms, while booked/billed as 'doubles' were singles in reality. Understanding that this is the norm in Japan, it nontheless needs to be pointed out.

Our overall experience was positive. The hotel staff were friendly and made every effort to ensure we had a good stay. The hotel rooms, while meeting the standards of Japanese busbiness hotel room size, were clean and well-equipped. The internet LAN connection was fast and trouble-free. A LAN-connected computer connected to a printer is available in the lobby so you can print out airline bookings, etc. The neighborhood is somewhat removed from central Kyoto, but the public transport system is easily accessible. The best deal is the daily bus pass available at any convenience store for 500 Yen.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Daily bus pass, available at convenience stores, for 500 Yen.

I have stayed for 8 nights in Rhino Hotel with my husband. Within 100 steps (turn left after leaving the hotel) you can reach the Hankyu Saiin station, from where you can get to Kawaramachi which is close to Gion and other major shopping area. Or you can change at Karasuma for Karasuma subway line to the Kyoto station. There are lots of cafe and restaurant and even healthy message parlour nearby.

Not enough sockets in the room for charging mobile phone, camera and video camera at a time.

Friendly service at the counter and the fax service is convenient and inexpensive (130 yen per each time). For transportation, you can ask the staff for map (or they can print you online schedule of railways, etc) and get the bus pass at Lawson's store just opposite to the hotel at the corner of the road, opposite to Hankyu station. Delicious breakfast served. The location is perfect for budget travellers as there are bus stops and subway station nearby.

Hotel Feature Tip : When going by the subway, please do not mistaken Sai station for Saiin station. These stations are close yet Rhino hotel is about 100 steps from Saiin station.

Nice bedroom, excellent location, near a Metro station.

The bathroom is a little narrow. Bedroom keys should be of the electronic type, avoiding a stopping in the Reception to get the keys.

Very convenient Hotel, with very good value for money. We had to stay one day more and they did not maintain the booked rate. After staying in the Park Hotel Tokyo, the comparison between them is totally unfavorable to Rhino Hotel Kyoto, but we were aware of the difference in categories, so, no claims about Rhino.

the room is very nice..spacious, comfortable and lightly.

too far for going to gion.

The hotel isn't near the center of city but there are a lot of buses that you can use to go where you want! The hotel is modern with big windows and the staff is very kind. The breakfast isn't so abundant but you can find Japanese breakfast also European one.

Restaurant Tip : Near the hotel you can find a lot of fast food.

Quiet and cozy in a nice neighborhood to the West of town.

Not smack downtown, so may not be the most convenient.

I liked it here. Its a bit off from Kyoto Station but the neighborhood is lively enough with a bookstore in the building, MOS burger and Mr. Donut next door as well as convenience stores and late night eateries nearby and ample public transport within 5 min. walking distance. Room was small and older but livable. There is internet and staff were nice. I didn't get to use spa/pool in the hotel (unusual amenity) since we were out most of the time.

Clean, well-furnished room, good value. Good information available in English about the hotel's neighborhood, available services, etc.

Excessive condensation on the window in the room. Front desk staff less than friendly and helpful; they all look panic-stricken when you approach the "front".

Generally a pleasant place to stay; not very convenient for general sightseeing in Kyoto, but good for going to Arashiyama, and the neighborhood has plenty of shops and restaurants. The room and facilities were clean and generally attractive; the access to the very nice fitness center is definitely a plus. The front desk staff definitely need some training so that they appear more professional, friendly and competent. They all looked as if it was their first day on the job and they had no idea what to do.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The coin laundry, about two+ blocks north of the hotel on Nishioji-dori, is very useful; note that no detergent is required, as the washing machines add it automatically.

Good hotel, clean and renovated, free Internet in the room, staff frendly and speak English, good location, reasonable price.

No

We stayed in hotel Rhino 6 nights and were satisfied with the romm and service. Hotel is located with 1 min walk from the railway station. Hotel has 9 floors with 2 big fast lifts, free Internet in the room, bycicles for rent. Room is pretty big (by Japaneese standards). We didn't take hotels breakfast, just bought fresh French bread from the neighbour store.

At first we thought the hotel was located a bit outside the center of the city but it was easy to take a bus or taxi in to the city. The area around the hotel is full of activity but it is not disturbing at the hotell room. A variety of resturants around the hotel.

Restaurant Tip : We can recommend the Teriaky resturant and there is a lot of other resturants in the area.
