- Travel tip : We took a cab tour rather than a formal bus one. We say two major temples, the national museum and a lot of the city - only a third of the cost to take cab from train station to sites. To save money, we did not eat at hotel, but rather at train stations or outside restaurants. Also bought tea and nescaf to make coffee and tea early in the morning - because nothing is open early.

Handy to many sights and close enough to the train station.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Easier to catch a taxi to the tourist attractions. Not expensive and less confusing than the train.
Safe Choice

- Restaurant Tip : We didn't see any coffee shop in the immediate area around the hotel but across from the station on the corner is a Starbucks and in the station all kinds of fabulous choices to eat and get coffee or dessert.
Excellent hotel, good value

If the Gion district is in your itinerary you can walk it which takes about an hour (I did it once) or take the #206 bus at section D2 at Kyoto station. Costs 220 yen for an adult and 110 for a child.
- Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel is only a long block from Kyoto station. They have a shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes and picks up and drops off at the south side of the station and takes 8 minutes. Best way to walk it is go out the north end of the station toward Kyoto towers, make a left at the main street which will take you west and at the end of the block the hotel will be across the street toward the left.
