Very thoughtful staff. They saw me bring alone a young child, they upgraded me to the premium floor where they have bigger bed.

great location, near the local attractions as well as facilities. not far from the subway [which you can catch a subway train to kyoto station]. subway station is a 5 minute walk and the train ride to kyoto station is about a 5-10 minute train ride.
we booked a triple suite [2 x king singles and 1 x single]. this was perferct for 2 adults and 2 childred [under the age of 6]. the rooms were a small, however this was a minor issue as we literally spent very little time in the hotel [only to sleep and freshen up].

i recommend royal park hotel for kyoto stay as the hotel is near the shopping and dinning area. besides, the decoration was new and cyber feeling. i had obtained a discount price for 2 nights and if the price is much lower, it will be great for couples.

i was travelling with my family (wife and 2 young daughters) to kyoto. it was a pleasant stay in royal park hotel. the good things that the rooms are new, simple and nice. size is slightly small for 2 adults and 2 children, but i booked one extra bed, hence it is quite comfortable. the room amenities is good. no need to bring shampoo, bath soap, razor, comb, tootbrushes as it is all provided. the best thing about the hotel is the location, it is near to the shopping centres, nishiki market, gion area. there are plenty of nice restaurants near the hotel, essian pontocho, musashi sushi, ramen and french bakery which are only less 5 minutes walking from hotel. i highly recommended this hotel for trip in kyoto.

Good environment. Nice and friendly hotel staff. Have to arrange your own sight visit because there is no travel tour service from the hotel.

Within reach with a taxi to most nearby attraction. Or you may purchase train day ticket to visit places outside the city.

we liked this hotel quite a bit. location is excellent and staff provided professional and friendly service.
beware that the name may be confusing. there is another "royal" hotel & spa nearby. even more confusing is that this hotel's logo refers to it as "the" hotel. huh?
"small double" means very small. barely enough for a double. it was the smallest room we encountered in all of japan - even smaller than in shinjuku tokyo. two people have to dance around each other. look at the dimensions when choosing a room.
many nightlife and shopping attractions nearby. a main transit hub is within 3 blocks. for those with jet lag hours, there is a 24-hour burger king across the street.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Laundry machines on 2nd floor are convenient. Keep the load small, as it does not seem to dry well. Oh, and you can buy beer and malt liquor drinks from vending machines on each floor.
