Clean rooms, quiet and amazing location, everything you can think of, and for the price it was unbeatable. I was given the top floor with a view of the whole city. Fast internet, and for once the rooms were not banged and dinged with burns in carpets and bed-linen which is a rarity in a country where seemingly everyone smokes and hotels put up signs urging people not to smoke in bed.

Well if you are looking for luxury, then this isn't the hotel, and probably Japan isn't the country to visit. The only English channel was BBC, which is sadly unimaginative.

If you are a staying on a budget and still want to be downtown and not in a flea-bag then this hotel is perfect. Staff are friendly and polite and only too willing to help. Value for money, it is the best hotel in Nagoya.

Travel tip : For those unfamiliar with the city and carrying bags you dont need to change trains from the airport but once you arrive, exit the station using the escalator, and then once on street level turn right and keep walking until you see the sign. It won't appear as a hotel on the street level because the hotel sits atop a fantastic department store. Check in is the 11th floor.

Is was economical compared to the hotels in the area. It had all the basic necessities. Very neat & clean like most of Japan.

Very hard to find. There is only (2) small signs outdoor in a very busy and 'sign ladened' area. Very confusing area, especially if you are non-Japanese speaking. TV had limited channels and only (1) English speaking channel, which was the BBC News station (very boring after awhile). Unable to access my company e-mail from the hotel due to their firewall = Big problem for business travelers. Breakfast has limited selection and isn't very good although a great view from the restaurant on the 18th floor.

The Meitetsu Grand Hotel is a descent hotel for the lower price. It has all the basic amenities needed to survive. However, the T.V. had limited channels and only (1) channel that could be understood by anyone other than Japanese (BBC News). The rooms are extremely small but you get somewhat use to it after a day or two. The hotel is very difficult to find in the subway/concrete jungle that surrounds it. It is very close to the train station, which, once you find it, makes it easier to move about the city. Like most of Japan, it isn't a good place to be if you don't speak Japanese. Very few people spoke very limited English. Although I respect the Japanese culture and their ability to keep the country closed to outside influence, English is widely used in most developed countries. Being able to communicate in English would bridge many gaps in communication. I wish I could have spoken Japanese and I tried to pick-up as much as I could while I was there. However, Japanese is not spoken anywhere but in Japan, English is spoken in most countries to some extent. I travel all over the world and Japan was like visiting a great 1st world industrial country with 3rd world communication skills.

The hotel is clean and big enough even if we had a triple room booking. The hotel employees were pleasant and helpful. We all slept well each night.

We would have liked a more Japanese breakfast because the hotel breakfast was more continental.

There were 10 in my family who spent our Christmas vacation in Nagoya and all of us stayed at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel. All of us were fully satisfied with the hotel room, service and location. The best feature is the location because it is so accessible to the bus and train. We didn't have any prohlem regarding transportation to and from the airport. We fully enjoyed the many many shops below the hotel. We are definitely planning another trip to Nagoya and will definitely stay at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel again.

Travel tip : THe place is very accessible to shopping and restaurants. Don't waste anytime because there are so many places to explore in Nagoya.
