Clean rooms, quiet and amazing location, everything you can think of, and for the price it was unbeatable. I was given the top floor with a view of the whole city. Fast internet, and for once the rooms were not banged and dinged with burns in carpets and bed-linen which is a rarity in a country where seemingly everyone smokes and hotels put up signs urging people not to smoke in bed.

Well if you are looking for luxury, then this isn't the hotel, and probably Japan isn't the country to visit. The only English channel was BBC, which is sadly unimaginative.

If you are a staying on a budget and still want to be downtown and not in a flea-bag then this hotel is perfect. Staff are friendly and polite and only too willing to help. Value for money, it is the best hotel in Nagoya.

Travel tip : For those unfamiliar with the city and carrying bags you dont need to change trains from the airport but once you arrive, exit the station using the escalator, and then once on street level turn right and keep walking until you see the sign. It won't appear as a hotel on the street level because the hotel sits atop a fantastic department store. Check in is the 11th floor.

Is was economical compared to the hotels in the area. It had all the basic necessities. Very neat & clean like most of Japan.

Very hard to find. There is only (2) small signs outdoor in a very busy and 'sign ladened' area. Very confusing area, especially if you are non-Japanese speaking. TV had limited channels and only (1) English speaking channel, which was the BBC News station (very boring after awhile). Unable to access my company e-mail from the hotel due to their firewall = Big problem for business travelers. Breakfast has limited selection and isn't very good although a great view from the restaurant on the 18th floor.

The Meitetsu Grand Hotel is a descent hotel for the lower price. It has all the basic amenities needed to survive. However, the T.V. had limited channels and only (1) channel that could be understood by anyone other than Japanese (BBC News). The rooms are extremely small but you get somewhat use to it after a day or two. The hotel is very difficult to find in the subway/concrete jungle that surrounds it. It is very close to the train station, which, once you find it, makes it easier to move about the city. Like most of Japan, it isn't a good place to be if you don't speak Japanese. Very few people spoke very limited English. Although I respect the Japanese culture and their ability to keep the country closed to outside influence, English is widely used in most developed countries. Being able to communicate in English would bridge many gaps in communication. I wish I could have spoken Japanese and I tried to pick-up as much as I could while I was there. However, Japanese is not spoken anywhere but in Japan, English is spoken in most countries to some extent. I travel all over the world and Japan was like visiting a great 1st world industrial country with 3rd world communication skills.

The hotel is clean and big enough even if we had a triple room booking. The hotel employees were pleasant and helpful. We all slept well each night.

We would have liked a more Japanese breakfast because the hotel breakfast was more continental.

There were 10 in my family who spent our Christmas vacation in Nagoya and all of us stayed at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel. All of us were fully satisfied with the hotel room, service and location. The best feature is the location because it is so accessible to the bus and train. We didn't have any prohlem regarding transportation to and from the airport. We fully enjoyed the many many shops below the hotel. We are definitely planning another trip to Nagoya and will definitely stay at the Meitetsu Grand Hotel again.

Travel tip : THe place is very accessible to shopping and restaurants. Don't waste anytime because there are so many places to explore in Nagoya.

Location, efficiency check-in/out, large rooms

you will hear the trains, thin walls with neighbour rooms. This was not really bothering us...

We spent one afternoon in Nagoya, which is really enough for tourists. We flew from Centrair Airport next morning. Location next to Meitetsu station is convenient to take the direct train to the airport. Rooms are above average, good beds, no extra pillow. Free internet via LAN cable in the room, no safe. We did not have breakfast in the hotel.

Travel tip : It's a 20min walk to Sakae area. Take the street in front of the hotel, with the "twisted" tower on your left. Halfway you have the Hilton hotel with a great cool bar on the top floor with amazing views, affordable between 18h and 20h thanks to the happy hour. after 20h there is a ridiculous 1200 yen cover charge.

Central location, easy access to shops and train station. Nice room, very clean.

Would have liked to see poached or fried eggs on breakfast menu.

Excellent hotel for the foreign traveller. Close to shops and a few minutes walk from the Nagoya train station. This can be very handy especially when travelling with heavy bags. Very modern and extremely clean.Rooms are smaller than in Australia but we had 3 beds in one room. Comfortable hotel that suited our needs and would recommend to anyone.

It is a very good choise for staying in Nagoya, I cannot find any negative things.

I have no negative points, I am totally happy with the stay, only entrance a bit hard to find

I stayed 2 nights at the hotel in a single room. It had large room to be a buisiness hotel in Japan, nice interior, and good ventilation system and AC. The breakfast was very nice, especiually the Japanese breakfast, and the price for the room was very good. It is near a lot of restaurants ans shopping centers. An ecellent choise for a stay in Nagoya. I have no negative things to say about the hotel, also staff was bery nice and friendly and could speak english well, and freee internet in the room.

Great Location. Staff was excellent.

A bit difficult to find. Mostly this was due to lack of signs in the train station and the fact that the hotel is on the upper floors of the Meitestu Department store.

Hotel was convenient. Staff was good. It was clean, comfortable and was a good place to stay after a long plane trip. I really liked the fact that the staff held a package for me before I arrived. This was helpful to me and prevented loosing time. Everything was in order here. Check-in and checkout was fast. Like every hotel in Japan (unlike other parts of the world) they will store your bags for a few days if need be.

Restaurant Tip : Many restaurants in the area. Try the shopping mall located beneath the hotel and train station. Some good deals here and it beats hotel food.

Best if the hotel can help providing tips on shopping / golfing / spa etc.

Shopping Tip : Try not to get lost in the underground shopping area which is connected with various subway stations, train stations, bus stations and what not. Signs can be confusing to tourists.

The Meitetsu Grand actually starts on the 11th floor so don't expect a traditional hotel lobby entrance at street level. If you are not backpacking, there are often lifts and escalators around which are worth seeking out especially if you have heavy luggage to trundle.

Shopping Tip : Shops in subway station are fantastic. Also check out Loft at Nadya Park which has all sorts of bits and pieces at reasonable prices.

Train station is back side of the hotel so the scenery is not best. Even thought noises from trains don´t come to the rooms.
