Large rooms, plenty of storage.

One phone next to bed, did not reach the desk. There is no room service, and the only takeout is from the lounge. Air conditiioning was not adequate during hot part of the day.

Although the room was large and bright, overall it did not suit my purposes. The phone did not reach from the bed to the desk, so I was unable to use it while I was at my laptop. The internet connectivity was mostly good. I was disappointed that there was no room service available, as I usually work through dinner from my room. My one visit to one of the restaurants in the hotel was very disappointing; our group waited about half an hour to get our drink order taken and delivered, and another hour for our dinner, which was not delivered all at once. Altogether, it took over two hours for dinner; two members of our party gave up and went to the sushi bar for quicker service. I did go to the lounge to eat twice; the food was not particularly good, just typical bar food. The service, however, was much better than the restaurant.

hotel free friendly shuttle bus reasonable room rates nice Japanese-style rooms, with city and ocean views

on a hill, needs a friendly, reasonable cost cab for nearby Okinawa city center, and beaches

V started with a great welcome from the hotel free shuttle driver, and a nice video presentation of the hotel during the 1 hour ride, thru Naha and the freeway. Wifi in the lobby, and free internet access in the room, and free PC on the 2nd floor. V had enjoyed verey much the free swimming pool and the big aircon fitness room, with city & ocean view. very reasonnable cost for Japanese and international breakfast buffet. Nice walk around the hotel. Short cab rides to the nearby Okinawa city center, beaches, and the world heritage Nakagusuku ruins.

Nightlife Tip : nice local cocktail at the Sheesah Lounge on the 10th floor, with night view of the Okinawa city.

Beautiful Hotel. The staff was as helpful as any that I have had the pleasure of meeting. The view of the pacific was gorgeous from our room. The studio room was more then adequate for two people.

Parking was sparse next to the hotel but in retrospect parking as a whole is few and far between on the populated areas of Okinawa.

Beautiful Hotel. The staff was as helpful as any that I have had the pleasure of meeting. The view of the pacific was gorgeous from our room. The studio room was more then adequate for two people. I would recommend this to anyone that would be traveling to Okinawa. It was close to everything that we need to get too. Once you learn your way around this part of the island it was a breeze to get from this hotel to anywhere.

Restaurant Tip : There are many places to eat. Go to the four corners area just outside Kadena AB. There is a new building there with a Karaoke place and right across from it are several awesome places to eat.

Professional and courteous staff. English speaking concierge. Great Value. High water pressure in bathrooms.

Out in a residential area so nothing within walking distance.

I travelled there for business and brought the family along so we could go experience Okinawa on the weekends. As far as accommodations the Superior (Quad) western style room was pretty standard. I would have to agree that the carpet in that room did seem a tad run down. However we did experience the Japanese style room (same price) which the hotel did for us free of charge. I would highly recommend the Japanese style room although those not used to sleeping on harder surfaces might have a hard time sleeping on the floor. The Japanese style room had very clean floors (no shoes of course). Aside from the clean floors in the Japanese style room they also had an extra deep bathtub. Both rooms we tried had enough water pressure and volume to wash a pack of elephants. Not sure if it’s a standard in Japanese hotels but the water could get hot enough to burn you if you are not careful, but if you are you can get really nice hot showers/baths. The concierge staff was very helpful and many were fluent in English. The pools are heated and the kids really enjoyed the kiddie pool. Not sure how they arrange the rooms there but smoking rooms can be right next to non smoking rooms so it would be kind of annoying being a non smoker to not be able to leave the window open for fresh air. Smokers next door would be on the balcony puffing away and the air would just get blown straight into our room. Buffet was standard. We did not try but I believe they do have another restaurant were you could order items. The only odd thing about the hotel is that it is located on a hill in a residential area so walking anywhere is not really an option.

Hotel Feature Tip : You can actually borrow many items from the hotel that I have never seen as a option in any western hotel. You can borrow a Nitendo DS for the kids, DVD player (Japan Region) and movies from front desk, and body pillows. We actually were even able to borrow a rice cooker. All free of charge.

The service was the best! Everyone was so accommodating. Anything we requested was provided.

Carpeting was very stained and appeared dirty. Some floors had a musty odor and the hallways were extremely hot. We would've liked to have been able to order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from a menu instead of all buffets.

My father was stationed at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa 50 some years ago. My parents adopted me in 1956 and brought me back to the United States. I vowed to someday get back to Okinawa just to see what it was like. The concierge and the entire staff at the Grand Mer were wonderful. They arranged many tours for us and even provided me with a wheel chair my entire stay. My parents tried to look up relatives, friends, etc., but were unsuccessful. The concierge took down information from my mother and said she would do additional research after we were gone. We had the best service we've ever had anywhere. I'd definitely return to this hotel.

Restaurant Tip : Unless you enjoy all meals buffet style, you're out of luck except for dinner. The 10th floor has a restaurant, but it doesn't open until 6:00 and it has a very limited menu.

Use the concierge desk in the lobby, they'll put you in touch with the resources you need. They'll even change a flat tire for you.

Travel tip : Organize your sightseeing early; use the concierge to help you figure what and when. If you want to drive, an International Driver's License is required.
