Very satisfied with the location and price of the hotel. The lobby offered free internet access, vending machines, and a payphone. Our room was across the hall from the laundry room which was very convenient! Was pleased with the abundant amount of toiletries provided (you don't always come across the same amount in 3-star hotels!). The hotel was also close to the JR airport bus terminal, the local subway station, and the famous bright lights of Namba. Cheap shopping, entertainment and food areas were only across the road in Shinsaibashi and Namba Walk (undercover shopping area near Namba station). Shinsaibashi is also home to famous brand names just in case you want to buy extravagant goods! You can easily access the hotel by either taking the Midosuji Line (red) down from Shin Osaka station (if travelling on the Bullet train).

I must admit that the hotel was a little 'run down'. The furnishing and carpets looked worn and outdated (on the floors with rooms only). There also wasn't a designated smoking area so the lobby would often smell of tobacco. The small bathroom can also be considered as a 'weakness' for most guests (although it didn't bother me in the slightest). I also wished the dryer was more powerful (had to spend 1.5hrs waiting for jeans to dry!)

Having previously lived in Osaka, I found the room to be larger than expected! I was also pleased that the hotel placed all 3 beds (one was a rollaway) into one room as triple rooms are difficult to come by! I really loved the free products given to us by the staff (toiletries) upon check-in and the unlimited access to Shiseido body wash, face wash, shampoo, and conditioner! The friendly Osaka atmosphere was present as I was cheerfully greeted and assisted by all staff regularly. Even the cleaners were friendly and smiley! Thumbs up to the free internet access (wifi) and laundry room! Overall, very pleased with my stay! Will stay there again!

Restaurant Tip : Dotonburi Hotel is across from my favourite sundae (and light meals) shop: Parasol! Walk down Dotonburi street towards Midosuji road for about 2 mins and look across the street. It's located on the 2nd level and has a red awning. A bright red door can be found on the ground level. The family run business gives a cosy and welcoming atmosphere and an English menu is available! Enjoy!

Proximity to nightlife, restaurants, train station, etc. Also they had free internet.

The thin walls allowed us to hear two different groups of people come home at in the early hours of the morning drunk.

I was not impressed by this hotel at all. All the places we stayed in japan were great so we were very disappointed when we arrived. The room was very very small. They did not have a cot for our baby but even if they did there would not have been any room for it. The bed was small but somehow my partner myself and our little baby crammed in, as a result we had not much sleep. The room smelt like cigarettes even though we were on a non smoking floor. When we were 1 minute late to depart they rang us on the room phone to see what was happening!! For the very unsettled night we had by hearing people come home and in their rooms due to the paper thin walls we thought they had a nerve!! If you were on a footy trip with the boys the hotel would be great!!

Restaurant Tip : There were so many restaurants in this area of the city as well as night life.

The hotel was in a very central location, had friendly and helpful staff, a cable for high speed internet, and was very clean.

The bathroom was very small, and I didn't like that I had to pay for a late checkout.

The Dotonbori Hotel in Osaka was a very good hotel. Centrally located, less than five minutes from the shopping districts of Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, it's right in the centre of the action. It's also just a ten minute walk to the Nankai Namba station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and had a cable for high speed internet which was very useful. The only downside was the small bathroom, with approximately one square metre of floor space, but I hear this is common in Japan. I'd recommend the hotel.

Shopping Tip : Very close to Shinsaibashi, with lots of clothing shops.
