We bought a 7 day JR rail pass 7 went somewhere different everyday-Hiroshima, Himeji, Nara, Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe & Nagoya. The Granvia is the perfect place to stay as the lobby is on the ground floor of the Osaka station near the central exit. You only travel one station to get to Shin-Osaka station where you catch the shinkansen bullet train to your desired location
location-fantastic!!!!!
very obliging & friendly staff BUT limited English
- Nightlife Tip : catch train to Namba station & stroll around Dotonburi district & eat octopus balls!!!!

The hotel location was excellent at Osaka station. It was easy to find with the hotel name listed on one of the station exits.
The hotel was very busy and there was a queue at both checking in and checking out. However there are extra staff on hand to help direct customers appropriately. The staff are also very helpful with with transportation directions and other general questions.
The room is small but comfortable and clean. The hotel facilities are quite good. There are several restaurants on-site ranging from a cafe style to high-end japanese tepanyaki restaurant.
We had dinner at the tepanyaki restuarant, the food and service was excellent but the prices were much higher than other restaurants of the same calibre.
In any case we recommend this hotel.
location right at the station
Hotel Restaurants are very pricely compared to other hotels in the area
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Osaka Castle
Rooftop Garden

Convenience to trains, shops, food, banks and central Osaka location verse lack of comfort is the equation with this property, in our opinion. We stayed in a Ryoban sleeping on tatanmi mats which was many times more comfortable.
- Travel tip : Eat where the locals eat - its excellent.
Always felt safe out in the streets day and evening.
Japanese are very courteous and helpful in the street, railway station, everywhere.
The trains are great and all signs have both Japanese & English language. As with most announcements. Easy travel these days unlike 10 + years ago.

It is really helpful to have a hotel in the middle of the main osaka station. Nice place to explore the whole city.

- Restaurant Tip : Nearby the hotel, there is a building called Lei's Building. It has about 8 or 9 levels of restaurants and is open to quite late, which came in very handy when we got off a late evening flight. In total, we tried 2 restaurants in the building. Food and atmosphere were great and prices reasonable.
