Taiyo: Disappointing and Difficult
Location, price, refrigerator
Hotel Taiyo was a disappointing choice that managed to underwhelm even more than its low price implied. At best, it was satisfactory in some areas; at worst, it was abysmal. I will focus on the most frustrating part - the staff - here, but I have added brief summaries on the other components (e.g. location, etc) below. The staff, especially the man on hand during late hours with whom I had the most interaction, was incredibly rude. As a group they failed to communicate with each other. I'd discussed things with one concierge and was assured they would not be a problem, but when the next one took his shift, he reneged on the prior discussion with the other staff member. Furthermore, he was very abrasive and didn't listen throughout. He demanded that I pay an additional fee 1.5x the price I'd originally booked the place, just to secure a stay for the remaining 5 hours of the day with my prior arrangement in place - with the alternative being leaving. As a result, I left and took the 5 am train back to my main city. For more details on the overall negative experience: Food/Dining: N/A (was closed the entire time we were there) Hotel Condition: one of the shared restrooms smelled of urine and had questionable stains. Overall cleanliness questionable. Aesthetically poor. Location: Conveniently next to a subway station, albeit a minor one. Sketchy people were hanging around the station even late into the night and in the early morning. Room Comfort: spare but functional. Refrigerator, small closet, cramped bed (which had dust/dirt particles near its foot). Staff performance: The worst part of the experience. Exit/entry policy not guest-friendly. Inflexible, uncreative, rude. For main example of these traits, see above. Value for money: cheap deal (Agoda did a great job for us), but as mentioned above, in person dealings would have led to an awful deal, and the place is overpriced at its standard non-deal price even if it had good service (which it definitely did

not good experience
cheap, cheap and cheap
The room are small and the toilet is not clean. Only 3 bathrooms for whole hotels. Has to wait for 1 hour to bath. Not good experience

Fine for a one night stay
Close to subway, easy going, comfortable bed
No problems, easy going staff, self-service hot water, possible to eat for a small fee, you can rent bikes (I didn't, it was too cold in March), the staff were friendly and spoke some English and gave me maps and other directions. Separate floor for females which gives added safety. Would recommend.

Good location but Share toilet
1. Location next to subway station 2. Location 3 Location
The location is the best. Subway station was on the right side of the hotel, the bus station as well. The hotel is close to Shinsekai area. Even share bathroom but the bathroom on 2nd floor was nice. But the toilet was terrible with an old style japanese.
