very good location, spacious rooms
We went here for the snow festival, and we were really not thinking to have book such a nice hotel! Just on odori street, very high standard hotel at a very affordable price (for Japan!)

Location, excellent restaurants.
I enjoyed my stay at the Kourakuen Hotel. The staff was friendly and ready to help.
I don't smoke and after living in North America for ten years, I thought would be given a non-smoking room as a matter of course. So I was surprised finding the room I was given was a smoking room. They even didn't ask me about it. But they were fast and still friendly to change it upon my request, for which I appreciate. To my surprise, there are only three non-smoking floors at such a big hotel. I didn't know there were so many people smoking.
The hotel is located at a good area - next to a park and a subway station. It was convenient for me to do my business and visit other places of the city.
Furthermore the restaurants at the hotel were excellent!!
