Well appointed classy rooms with great views
10
This was a great place for a nights rest. Rooms were tastefully decorated in red and grey and after a long journey from Tsuruga on a cruise (ferry ride) we were delighted with the space. The service was really good with engish spoken by all. Vending machines are on all floors and a food mart just downstairs. The theme is french so expect to have some french food and art in your rooms also.

In the center of Sapporo
best dinning and shopping area
10
Though Mercure Hotel, Sapporo is located in Japan, the hotel reserves the best French ambience for its guests. Also, the location is in the heart of the city; an imposing array of restaurants and shops in walking distance. A fine dinning area- M Square is annexed to Mercure. But the hotel isn't equipped with a health centre or spa parlor.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The well-known Ramen Street is right behind the hotel. And one of the top-notch crab feast is opposite to Mercure.
Just 5-min walk to Odori Park, where you could see the Sapporo Tower or join some activities (e.g. autumn festival, beer festival...etc).

Great service and value hotel
Proximity to subway and shopping districts, clean and cosy rooms, good internet connection, warm service
8.7
Mercure Sapporo is conveniently located, especially for business travellers. 5 min walk to nearest subway station that connects to the other lines traversing through Sapporo, making it very convenient to travel anywhere. Otherwise, there is always the hotel shuttle to get you to other stations at selected times. The oldest shopping arcade is around the corner, plenty of food options, souvenir shops and convenient shops. There, you find a fruit store which sells the sweetest fruits of the season, reasonably priced compared to the large department supermarkets. Friendly guest relations staff are around to provide directions till late evening and the lemonade provided at the lobby tops the day when you return to the hotel.

Great location but rooms smell of cigarette smoke
Well appointed rooms, very nice furnishings, very comfortable, free internet
7.3
My only complaint about the hotel is the pervading smell of cigarette smoke. I had a non-smoking room but it still smelt bad and the hallway outside was very bad. I strongly recommend that the hotel considers having non-smking floors to deal with this.
Nightlife Tip:
Try a tiny bar called the Bar Gershwin, great jazz singer, small intimate place, very friendly owners. http://bar-gershwin.com/

Nice hotel and great location
New, courteous and very helpful staff, rooms very clean and spacious compaired to normal Japanese hotels, and great location.

Upon arrival my buddy and I was greeted by one of the staff (very friendly). Was guided to the elevator and were to go to check in. Was again greeted by the recepionist this time with a very warm welcome. The staff speaks english which made checking in very easy. The also advised that our Golf bags arrive 2 days earlier and would bring them to our rooms. The rooms are larger that the normal rooms in Japan and the bathroom has everything you need.
Outside the hotel you will find restaurants, bars, shopping, and entertainment all with in a 1-5 minute walk. Taxi's every where and a very large underground mall that just runs forever. If you are a golfer, there are many courses within a 20-60minute drive.
Definitely will be staying there on my next trip.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The Sapporo Tower is locate several blocks away. A great view of Sapporo and its surroundings. Also, they have a outdoor restaurant at the base that provides a grill if you want to cook you own food or just order up. Great beer also.

Very Good Hotel
Comfortable room with good location for entertainment
8.3
I am surprised by the size of the room since it is spacious compared with the room of other hotel with similar rate. Strongly recommend to stay but the location is quite far away from JR station.

Sizeable room with family with great location
huge room with 4 beds and walking distance to ramen street and nishi fish market
9.3
the family size is huge (even for western standard) and we can even include a baby cot with plenty of space left. the hotel is within walking distance to many sights including ramen yokocho (less than 100m from the back of hotel) and nishi fish market (<10 min walk).
internet is complimentary and i even borrowed a router from the front desk so that all of our devices can be connected.
