Great location and good value
Located right beside Takamatsu station, ferry terminal, and castle

The room was decent sized and a bit smoky but we aired it out. It was very clean and we slept well.
The hotel is right beside a few convenient places to have breakfast or other meals. We left our luggage in free coin lockers for the day, which makes a day trip to nearby islands easy to coordinate.
One lady at reception was especially helpful in giving us information and timetables to get around takamatsu. There was also a young man who first greeted us who was equally unhelpful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Try Kagawa udon and bring some home for yourself and your friends!

Modern hotel in a perfect location
Across the road from the train station and bike hire
8
japanese hotel rooms are small, so don't be surprised. just dump your stuff and get out and see the sights. the hotel is clean and modern and just across the road you can hire pushbikes for 100 yen per day! this is as cheap as you'll find in japan. hire a bike and go see the sights. we like takamatsu so much we stayed an extra day (make sure you get the train and go see kotohira).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Ritsurin Garden is a must do. It's an easy bike ride from the hotel and the history and size of the garden is amazing.

Great location and big rooms

The stay at Areaone was indeed nice. It is located near the train station so it is quite convenient if you have bulky luggage. They also provide free of charge lockers so youcan leave your stuff in hotel after checkout. Rooms are big and clean, although a bit outdated.

good location but small and glommy rooms
good location, walking distance to JR station
7.3
the room I stayed at was quite small (as usual in Japan) and gloomy. Ask for a room at Building 1, where you can find staff and helping hands. At Building 2 where I stayed at, you could hardly find any staff, nor other guests. It was too quiet.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Asked for a room at Building 1

Not quite
Convenient location and pleasant neighborhood - right opposite Takamatsu Train Station, near the sea and Tamamo Park
6.7
pros as stated above. some cos.: their receptionist may not speak english (need to ask for their duty manager). the room is not well soundproofed. there is a hotel areaone ii in about 50m away - though without a receptionist (some customers who book hotel areaone might be assigned a room at hotel areaone ii if the former premise is fully booked; room guests of hotel areaone ii who needs help will need to walk to hotel areaone to speak to the receptionist there).
Restaurant Tip:
For budget travellers, there is a small "canteen" right next to the hotel that is operated by a pleasant old lady and offers nice local flavored food at reasonable price. Opening hours: 7am-4.30pm (roughly) (accurate as of March, 2012)

Wonderful location
Good loction and very close to conference center
7.3
This hotel is very convenient and have a wonderful location. It only takes about 3 min. walk to the major station in Takamatsu. It have trains and buses. In the room, you can have Wifi access. The only one weakness is that they don't offer free service to keep your luggages in case you need to check out early for the meeting and need to come back later for picking up your luggages. However, they do provide paid lockers for you (yen for one time use). But they only have two big lockers, if others use them, you have figure out some ways to keep your luggages.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Very close to Train and Bus stations.
