Had spent 4 days in this hotel, lucky thing is that they actually had English speaking receptionist which was a shock to me as in my mind Japan is not actually an English friendly country. The room was clean and there are non smoking rooms which is available for customers who just hate the smell of cigarettes.

Small room and decent location
4.7
Spent a few days in this hotel, location wise it was about 800 meters from the nearest station. The reception was helpful and you could get information such as places to go at night or in the morning which is near Shinjuku. The hotel also provide maps so that if you ever happen to get lost nearby you could use the map to navigate back.

Clean hotel but small rooms
Clean, English spoken staff

The rooms are quite small going to the nearest metro station is about 15 - 20 minutes walk from the hotel itself. Walking to shinjuku takes about 25 minutes and to Kabukichō is also about the same time so for those who would like to have a feel on Japan night life this hotel would be relatively adequate just that it was quite a challenge for me walking to the station itself

Difficult location, but not bad for price.
Price, breakfast, comparatively spacious rooms

This hotel is honestly what I came to expect from Japan during my stay.
Although the main room is rather spacious (I had a single, and it came with a couch!), the ceilings in the hotel are very low, and the bathroom is slightly elevated. As someone who is petite at 4'10", it is very hard for me to feel cramped, but I was banging my elbows in the shower, and it so close to the ceiling that I could reach the ceiling without stretching. Tall people beware, or you'll end up taking a lot of cramped baths. Otherwise, the room came equipped with your typical amenities (Shiseido bath products, toothbrush, comb, razor, tea, hot water pot, robe, slippers, etc.) and although the location was a bit annoying to find, it is close to metro stops (You just have to search a bit.) and I was navigating around easily within the first day.
The breakfast is well worth it if you get it included in your room price. It's typical Japanese/Western buffet, and it's very filling and tasty.
The neighborhood is very quiet, and there are two conveniently located conbinis along the road.
Basically, if you want a cheap place that you don't mind looking for, there's really nothing to complain about. It's comfortable and worth what you pay.

hotel location hard to find but room is ok

I arrived late at night and the hotel location is difficult to find. I took a cab from shinjuku station and the cab driver could not find it either. After asking someone, the location is still not correct. Finally, we approached a police post nearby and got us to the hotel.

the hotel is in a great location, not that far from shinjuku san-chome. you can enjoy the energy of the neighbour but still be in a quiet street. friendly staff but a real lack of english, it can be a little bit complicated for those who don't speak japanese. big tv screen in the room but only 10 or 15 channels. internet connection was okay. the room was a bit cold at night.

Nice location with tiny rooms
6.7
The Listel is in a nice location near the hubbub of Shinjuku but unfortunately, there is a major construction project going on next door. Don't plan to sleep past 8am!
