very convenient walk to the jr station

wonderfully central location with close proximity to jr station and metro lines. rooms were surprisingly larger than what you would expect for japan hotels. located few stations to the shopping areas of shinjuku and shibuya and connected by metro to the tokyo/ginza area. well surrounded by food and drinking places with a local feel to the area. check out the ramen joints around the vicinity.

This hotel was awesome. The room is clean and tidy. Eventhough is just a small double bed room but the size is just nice for a couple to stay. Besides,it's easy to reach hotel as just beside Ikebukuro JR station (via south exit).

Trust the restaurant hawkers - they will direct you to the REAL restaurants that the locals use

If you're looking for an efficient hotel in a great location, Metropolitan is a good choice. The rooms are small (as usual in Japan) but clean and well maintained. The beds are great (duvet is very comfy). It can feel impersonal because of the number of people going in and out (probably because the hotel hosts weddings). The hotel is 5 minutes away for Ikebukuro station, one of the biggest in Tokyo (JR, subway).
Restaurant Tip:
There are tons of eating joints on the eastern side of Ikebukuro station. Just go through it and take the Seibu exit.

This hotel has a great view if you get a high floor and it is conviniently located near the station therefore you do not have to lug your suitcases around. It also has an airport bus which makes it really convenient to get to the airport after all the shopping. There is also a bread shop on the ground floor which is great for breakfast and all staff are very helpful and speak good english

in comparison to the rest of Japan the room was resonably spacious and it had a lovely outlook. the position of the hotel is quite central. the only down side was the Wifi was dificult to access in the room but easy in the foyer. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
