Good quality hotel, great service but small room
Good looking lobby, room, great supportive staff
8.7
Great location, right across from Hanzomon subway station, near the Imperial Palace.
Clean room, good utilities, great staff service, free use of hotel safe, mailed letters for us.
Lobby and reception areas make good impression.
However, the twin room way to small for 3 beds; I appreciate the savings, but I was almost tempted to give up the extra bed. There was literally no floor space left, which made the stay in the room almost unpleasant.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Imperial Garden and Palace is 20 minutes walking distance. Fast food ("slot machine") right by the hotel, well-stocked convenience store 3 minutes walking distance.

Monterey Hanzomon Hotel Tokyo
Convenient Location (by the Metro station) and cleanliness
Yasukuni Shrine is near by.
9.3
Whether rain or shine, the hotel is located in front of the Metro station without walking and getting wet. If you don't want to spend an expensive taxi ride, you take subway and get off the station, then running into the hotel. I experienced with very helpful staff with my foreign friend who was the first time in Tokyo. Even though the restaurant on first floor that is Chinese, but the restaurant allowed the tea time for our comfortable afternoon. The bathroom was unlike one of those stereotype unit style bathtubs, but it was the decent bathtub which your whole body was able to soak in. I didn't hear much of noise where normally comes from the next door or plumbing. I would definitely recommend to my friends who want to stay in Tokyo while in business. Our jogging around the imperial palace was very attractive course every morning.

Monterey Hanzomon Hotel, great location
The best thing about this hotel is its easy location to the Tokyo Metro. The room is also a decent size and the hotel is new. English newspaper delivered each day.

This hotel is a great hotel for the price. We were expecting a shoebox, but the room is a good size and the bathroom, although small is very well designed. However, the hotel did not have any english speaking staff and the breakfast was pretty ordianary. We used the 100yen public internet in the lobby to work out trains etc. The hotel is new however the rooms showed signs of lack of care/maintenance - big stain on the carpet and marks on the walls. It was clean and serviced/linen changed each day however. We probably would not stay at this hotel again, due to the staff attitude towards us - we felt a little unwanted by reception staff and it would have been good to have some assistance with places to go etc. However, for the price this hotel is a little gem.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
To get to Hanzomon Metro station, change trains at Otematchi station to the Hanzomon line. When at Hanzomon take exit 5 and this will bring you out at the hotel. The hotel is across from a METRO station not a JR station - be aware of the privately owned train companies/routes when you buy your tickets. It is possible just to get around on the Metro but you need to plan you route.

Clean, hospitable, business area
The room is bigger than what we expected for Japan. It is next to the subway so you can easily get around from place to place. The staff can speak a little english. There are many amenities.
6.7
Monterey Hanzomon Hotel was a good hotel for the price. I would recommend this hotel for people who are staying in Japan for less than a week. It seems to be a hotel that caters more to business people. The room we had was decent in size, but the bed is stiff so if you sleep on a soft bed like we do you will definetly have a sore back in the morning. Overall, the hotel was accomidating and we had no issues with the staff or people in the hotel. It is a quite place so there is no noise to worry about at night. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but it is extreamly expensive. I recommend that you try the Italian restaurant down the street in the alley way or the Soba restaurant on the other side of the street. I hope that all Agoda members have a pleasant stay in Japan as we did. I would rate the hotel a 3 out of 5.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The hotel is right next to the subway station so you can easily go and visit the beautiful Japanese gardens that are near by.

Quiet, Comfortable and Convenient
The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
8.7
I stayed in the Hotel Monterey Hanzomon for the first four days of my stay in Japan. It is very near a metro station, which while not one of the busier ones, is perfectly adequate as a point of departure to reach any other part of the metro network, and thus any other part of the city. The area is residential and correspondingly quiet, which suited me perfectly. There are a number of convenient 24-hour stores in the vicinity. The hotel itself I found to be very modern, with clean, comfortable and well-appointed rooms. The staff were extremely courteous and as helpful as they could reasonably be. I enjoyed my stay in the hotel and found it to be a very relaxing and relatively convenient base from which to explore that great Metropolis that is Tokyo. I did not try out the hotel's dining facilities so I cannot comment on these.
Nightlife Tip:
Don't miss the last U-bahn ( Metro / Subway / Underground )back to Hanzomon. It is not really within a comfortable walking distance from any of the nightlife quarters. Of course there are taxis - everywhere!

Great Experience
Right in front of Hanzomon Station (Purple line), very new and spacious room, great staffs
9.3
Since there are many subway companies, you have to pay separately if you need to go somewhere and need to transfer between these companies (160 yen minimum each). Luckily Hanzomon station is on the major line, so we didn't have much problem traveling around, just that it may take a little longer. So, next time we might consider finding another hotel that is close to a major subway station with more than one companies.
Shopping Tip:
There's a drugstore right next to the Hotel where you can buy some of Shisedo cosmetic and skincare line and the best Sun screen (as recommended by many dermatologists), Anessa SPF 50 silver bottle quite cheaply.

Monterey Hanzomon Hotel
Very clean and friendly staff. You get a newspaper every morning.

A small and clean hotel in a nice neighborhood. Several convenient stores are located within one minute walk and there are several restaurants in the surrounding areas. Hanzomon metro station is just across the street (take exit 5). Very easy to commute to e.g Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi. Very nice room with Internet and TV access. Friendly and helpful staff, they carried my bags to the room while I was checking in and they speak well English. I never tried the hotel restaurant so I can't comment the food but it seemed a bit pricey.
Restaurant Tip:
There's a nice Indian restaurant up the street which is worth trying if you like that kind of food.

Tokyo Monterey Hanzomon Hotel
Boutique, modern, clean, attractive, nice amenities, friendly, great bathtub, directly adjacent to subway
10
Monterey Hanzomon Hotel is terrific. It is a boutique hotel with modern styling. It is clean, attractive, and has nice amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was quite small, but consistent with Tokyo standards. The bathtub was very deep for a nice soak. The pillows, bed linens, etc. were excellent. It is easy to get to from Tokyo station--one stop to Otemachi, transfer to Hanzomon line for a few stops. Great access to all subway lines this way. Quiet higher-end neighorhood. Excellent sushi restaurant around the corner and good looking noodle place next door. Convenient small, fresh market and liquor stores across the street. Free wireless hotspot in lobby and cheap computer terminal available if not carrying laptop.
Restaurant Tip:
Wonderful sushi restaurant with tatami tables and bar around the corner.

One night at Hanzomon
Literally 10 meters from a Metro stop, and the location is very central.
8
Even though my wife and I got a smoking room while the booking was for a non smoking double room, and the only non-smoking remaining was with two twin beds, I still recommend the hotel. Take the Narita express to Tokyo station, and then take the red line to Otemachi (I think one stop) and switch to the purple line towards Shibuya, then get off at Hanzomon station and your practically there.
Restaurant Tip:
There is a nice local bar (not touristic)just around the corner, which is open late, where you can have nice food and drinks, and see how the locals spend their evenings.

Tokyo in July
It is literally across the street from the Metro entrance. It is located in a VERY quiet area. In fact, the streets are deserted after nightfall.
5
Quiet, but boring.
If you want to experience any of Tokyo's night life, you'll need to get on the Metro and go somewhere else. Fortunately, the metro entrance is across the street from the hotel.
Restaurant Tip:
Do NOT plan to eat at the hotel or near it. Plan your meals for while you are out-and-about.
