Service, view from the bar, garden.

Exceptionally overpriced meals and snacks in resturants.

Staying at the New Otani is like going back in time. We felt like we were stepping back into the 1950s. We enjoyed that very much for the novelty value but if you prefer something more contemporay perhaps opt for somewhere else. I have nothing to complain about. A good hotel with easy access from train station/subway and nice friendly service.

Within walking distant to Akasaka area 5-8 mins walk to subway station Akasaka Mitsuke Many good restaurant within hotel

Hotel is too space out, need to walk alot from point to point. Signage is not very clear

With the discount for booking early, this is a very worthwhile hotel to stay in. Many governement officials make this their choice hotel. Service and room ammenities are standard and without much complain. We were given a early check-in as the room that we booked was available. No additional charge were added. The tepanyaki restaurant in the garden is a MUST try for food lovers.

Restaurant Tip : You can find all the food you want in Japan at Akasaka area just 5-8 mins walk across the road.It is also a night drinking place...

The New Otani is one of the best hotels, beauty, service, and location, but especailly the 400 year old garden.

Not much

The hotel is one of the best, my favorite, and I have stayed there many times over the past 25 years. I could have stayed many other places, but I always come back to the New Otani Tokyo and Osaka, I like all that is the best here, garden, service, various resturants, and location. The many variety of shops is also a plus, as the large rooms for various meetings.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The locations is good as for a large city, easy to take taxi's, but also the many close by train stations that will take you to many places at a reasonable price.

I did appreciate the cleanness, the facilities, the beautiful garden, the view of the city from the room. The location is very good. The service provided is of quality and achieved my expectations.

wi-fi access in the room would be a plus!

We stayed in New Otani Hotel for 3 nights for a leisure trip in Tokyo. We were provided with an excellent service from de beginning. The room was clean, with a nice view of the city and garden. The location of the hotel is quiet centric and 5 minutes walking from one of the subway stations, which makes easy to visit the city. The hotel is well known, taxi drivers know it very well and we found that very convenient in Tokyo.

Easy access from Narita by bus, comfortable room good amenities. The garden is worth a few hours contemplation.

Paying for the internet is poor form and should be eliminated.

The best reason for choosing the New Otani is the garden which is really great and very well cared for. You should walk into Akasaka, get a coffee and a croissant (which are also very good) and have a slow contemplative breakfast next to the upper pond. A great amount of thought has gone into the garden and it is worth while taking the time to respect the design and care that went into it.The hotel is comfortable and much like many others.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Spend time in the garden. Wander around Akasaka. Visit the Temple access by escalator.

great location near subway lots of restaurants nearby staff could not be better and more helpful

way too big way too touristic

easy to get to from airport...take the airport bus directly to the hotel...and it is reasonable- around 3000 yen. rooms are adequate- BRs a plus. immaculate as is all of Japan. restaurants in the hotel were overpriced. take a short walk out the garden court exit and over to the Akasak-Mitsuke station...many options in the area- the concierge will assist you. good value for the money but next time I will opt for something a bit smaller and more intimate.

Very nice garden. Very good location of the hotel. The staff is extraordinarily pleasant and polite. Lots of dinig opportunities.

Wellness can only be attended by people above 18yo. Our son is a good swimmer, not clear why he could not go to the pool. Too little number of coat-hangers. No place for traveler-bags in the room.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel overall. The garden view from the breakfast area was exceptionally good. The structure of the buildings and gates were a bit confusig for us at the beginning, but we learnt to find our ways quickly with help of the staff, so we could enjoy the close location of both the subway as well as the JR station. The garden area was really an excellent and relaxing oasis in the middle of the town, really appreciated the walks during evenings after busy days of exploring Tokyo. We think the fine quality of the functionalities of the hotel combining with very good location for reasonable prices provide the hotel a relly good overall rating.

Hotel Feature Tip : Provide a location and orientation advisor A4 size map of the hotel and the vicinity with main attractions real close, like the JR station, the subway stations, the nearby pedestrian area, etc.

Great location - close to trains and restaurants Spacious rooms, including triple rooms for those traveling with kids Grocery store in the hotel Friendly, helpful staff

Use of the swimming pool is seasonal - we missed out by a day! Brakfast buffet is mediocre and very expensive.

We stayed at the New Otani with our 3 year-old and loved it! It was one of the only hotels we could find in Tokyo that offered a triple room with separate bed for a reasonable price. The room itself was spacious, with a separate living area and bathroom - even a heated toilet seat! Eating out in Tokyo is very expensive, so we stocked up at the little supermarket downstairs in the hotel and ate breakfast in our room - they had everything from pastries to sushi. We were very disappointed at not being able to use the pool - apparently it is closed at a certain time each year, despite the fact that the weather was sunny and mild. Check this before you book. The breakfast buffet was also very ordinary - everything tasted a bit stale and it was extremely expensive - we only ate there once! Overall, this is a wonderful deluxe hotel in the heart of Tokyo - huge, but friendly - and in a great position for cafes and train stations. If you're travelling as a couple or with kids, you'll find it a great option.

Hotel Feature Tip : The hotel supermarket - full of gourmet goodies and actually not too expensive! It was a lifesaver on many occasions.

Easy to find. Big rooms, outstanding for japanese standards. Very nice green environment.

Services and food very expensive.

This hotel is an island in the middle of Tokyo, since it has an enormous green space around, including a japanese garden. It has several restaurants (which I even did not count), shopping arcades, it is a town in itself. The rooms are very spacious, which does you something good if you have been in "japanese shoe boxes" before. It is easy to find, subway station just 2 minutes away. The area is absolutely superbe, it is Akasaka, which has lots of restaurants around (if you do not want to pay the rediculous prices in the hotel), nice little cafes and you can stroll around for hours.

the garden

the price of food in hotel restaurants is exhorbitant e.g. hamburger and cappuccino A$50

the hotel is huge and does have everthing in it you could possibly require from general store to high range boutiques. the bell boys are very help full and the hotel supplies a easy to read map of the surrounding areas. the room amenities are fabulous. if you forget a toothbursh or razor do not worry it is already there for you. te gardens are beautiful and well worth a visit. if you can not find reception ask in one of the shops because the place is huge.rooms are substantial in size and value for money. 3 minute walk from train station and constant taxis availabale at the hotel.

Restaurant Tip : the restaurants food eateries in the atttached building and surrounding area are much better value for money and will make yor dollar go 5 times as far.

Great location, great experience, beautiful Japanese garden

Pool should be included in room rates

The hotel is a sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of tokyo. Our second stay in this hotel with 12 months The rooms are clean and well maintained, however the beds an be a little firm for some, i personally found them great. The views of tokyo particularly from the upper floors are astounding, well worth the room rate. Room staff were efficient and courteous, and front desk staff were helpful, to all our requests. The outstanding feature of the hotel is the 10 acre garden. Within its confines, the rest oft he world melts away and you could be in the countryside estate of a wealthy landowner. Will stay again.

Restaurant Tip : Go out to the many restaurants in the akasaka area adjacent to the metro station, they are great value and mixing with the local japanese a great experience.

Excellent room - good size and clean, complimentary water bottles. The bed and pillows were very good.

None to report.

The New Otani is a large hotel in Akasaka. It is well located to most business operating in the Central Tokyo area, and is also close to Shibuya, Shijuku, and Roppongi. There are many places to eat within easy walking distance from the hotel. This hotel would be suited to both business travellers and holiday makers alike.

Nightlife Tip : The nightlife near the Hotel in Akasaka is very good.

The Hotel Staff are extremely friendly and very gracious. The Travel desk and Customer relations were all extremely helpful.

The breakfast buffet can have a little more variety. I would have liked more choices for the on demand movies or pay-per-view movies on the television.

This was my first visit to Japan. I am glad that I chose the New Otani Hotel. It is very conveniently located. The hotel itself has a beautiful Japanese garden and this was very tranquil and well maintained. It was like an oasis of peace in the center of a bustling neighbourhood. The room I had was spacious, adequately furnished and well kept. The bathroom was also roomy and convenient. Above all the Staff working in the hotel lent it a very friendly and inviting atmosphere.
