The best service in a long time
Everything was professional
a five star hotel with everything you would expect, but unfortunately as the japanese society at large, also the staff was too bad on the english language.

Excellent hotel in great location
Excellent location near multple subway lines. Very helpful staff. Great selection of resturants both in the hotel and nearby. Very clean and good sized rooms all at very competitive prices. I would recommed the New Otani Hotel to anyone planing either a business trip or a family holiday in Tokyo. Regards.

Good Sized Room
Lovely Garden
the size of the room at the hotel was really good. breakfast was not included and was a little expensive. the japanese garden is a great place to take some photographs. we travelled to the major shopping areas by taxi and found this to be expensive. tour agent in the lobby was very helpful.

Hotel with great garden
Lovey garden, close proximity to stations and Akasaka shopping streets
Overall, this is a pretty good hotel even though it has a long history and heritage. Rooms at the garden wing is decent and of old decor and structure, not as new and contemporary as the rooms at the main wing, but you get the full view of their 400 yr old garden. Breakfast was crappy at the price they charge, and swimming pools are additional charged as well.

slightly dissappointing
location and service
I generally stay at the tower as this is more cost effective and so did the same this time, However they have shut the top floors and the lower floors are terrible, old interiors bad view etc, So had to pay $ 80 or so more and change to the main hotel which was much better bu this was a bad experience. The experience of dining in the revolving restaurant on top was also not the best as the buffet charge is levied irrespective whetehr you eat it or not or even if you order ala carte. This makes the meal very expensive and should be made clear at the time of the order.

Lovely hotel with a long history and great garden
Very nice 400 year old garden and convenient location
overall, the new otani hotel is a great hotel, considering it's brand name and history behind this big chain of hotel group. rooms are decent and clean, but their daily buffet breakfast is tad too boring and limited. not worth the money at all. other than that, the location is great and staffs are friendly and obliging. but you have to pay extra if you want to use their pool which was a big boo boo..!!

One of the Grande Dames of Tokyo Hotels
Enormous, well-known, 15 restaurants, great service, large rooms (for Tokyo)
we really enjoyed our stay at the new otani, and the location is brilliant. we also got a great rate on agoda, which made this otherwise expense-account only hotel good for a family weekend holiday. it's close to the subway, all taxi drivers know it (a rarity in tokyo), and there are a mind-boggling 15 restaurants inside the hotel. while the rooms are showing their age, they're generously-sized and have views of the gorgeous gardens below. this really is a fantastic place to stay in tokyo, if not as up-to-date luxurious as the four seasons / peninsula / mandarin crowd.

Great service, good location, nice area
the Japanese garden was beautiful, shops and restaurants in hotel are nice but pricey
enjoyed my stay there. was surprised about how small the room was but big considering hotel rooms in japan. expected it to be bigger. later stayed 4 days at another hotel which was more expensive and rooms were even smaller. new hotel otani is a good choice.

Still the same place as in 1978...
Right balance in the Japanese and Western fusion. Electricity savings are in place but not a hinder. Ideal public transport location.
Can certainly recommend it if you don't have much time in Japan but you want to discover Japanese gardens: the garden is gorgeous, the tea houses still the same peace and beauty and the koi fish are still there to amaze us with their size and elegance.
