Big room compared with other hotels in Japan.

I called & requested for an early check-in but there was no promise/ no attempt to serve from the staff. They just asked me to stand by in the morning. My room was not included brekfast and Agoda should mention clearly before customers proceed for a reservation.

Overall is fine.

Convenient to metro, attentive service and well priced, Internet is free in each room.

TV only has local Japanese channel.

Right next to Shinagawa station so easy access to the Shinkansen, Narita Express and Yamanote line. It was also conveniently located to late-night eateries, especially ramen shops, in Shinagawa.

Convenience local - opposite side of Shinagawa JR station. Spacious guest room with sufficient air conditioning supply. Friendly and cheerful staff.

TV only provides local Japanese channel, no CNN...

We could reach Shinagawa JR station straight from Narita airport by Next within 1 hour and just 3 minutes to Hotel pacific, that is wonderful. There are shopping arcades/departments stores e.g. "Swing" and all sort of restaurants, japanese/steak house/coffee shop nearby. Also an aquarium only 5 minutes away from the hotel. My family and I like this hotel very much, the room is spacious with sufficient air conditioning supply to keep us cool for good sleep in hot summer time. But it would be even better if I can watch CNN on TV.

Restaurant Tip : There are shopping arcades/departments stores e.g. "Swing" and all sort of restaurants, japanese/steak house/coffee shop nearby.

Good location near train station, quite spacious & clean room

Hotel name is not popular, difficult for taxi driver

Pacific Hotel in Shinagawa is ideal place to stay for my business trip. Just across is JR and Shinkanseng train station so you could travel easily inside and out of town. There's many restaurants around the hotel including TGI's Friday just below the hotel lobby. You also can find many convenience stores around the hotel. The room is quite spacious for Japan standard and quite clean. The staffs is helpful and friendly. I can use internet access for free. From and to Narita airport you can use limousine bus easily from this hotel. The problem is this hotel used to be under the name of Le Meridien and now change to Pacific, so sometimes it's confusing for taxy driver or my colleague that need to be there.

Very close to Shinagawa - easy to get around and a good place for tourists who want an easy and accessible place to stay.

It's going to be closing soon so the wear and tear look was to be expected, but the service can be improved. The bedding was terrible. The hotel restuarant was very pricey.

It's near the end of its era, and it shows. It has the feeling of a surburban tourist hotel - a little worn at the edges, a little too loud. While it is comfortable enough, there are better hotels at better prices in other areas. Having stayed at Ikebura, Shinjuku and Meguro areas, I would opt for one of these before Shinagawa.

Restaurant Tip : Check out the eating places within the station, sometimes these are nicer than the ones outside. There are some more local joints near the railway stations, opt for those instead of the many burger joints nearby.

Good service, lovely gardens, good breakfast, great location.

A bit dated - well OK it's like the 1970's never ended!

I picked the hotel for its locations, right next to Shinagawa station so easy access to the Shinkansen, Narita Express and the circular Yamanote line. This was obviously one of THE hotels in the 1970's and it's still smart if a bit dated. The breakfast room and lounge are wonderful, surrounded by glass walls that overlook the pleasant Japanese gardens - it's hard to believe that you're in the middle of a bustling city. I understand that the hotel will close next year, probably to be knocked down and replaced by some character-less tower block. Visit soon if you want to see what elegance was in the 1970's huge chandeliers and all! PS. The fact that TGI Friday's is part of the hotel is very handy and there is an excellent French restaurant across the road.

Restaurant Tip : If you are after a real Tokyo dining experience try the Kaiken-Sushi bar (sushi on a conveyor belt) inside Shinagawa station. It's on the train side of the barriers not far from the stairs to the Yamanote line. It's quite small and very cheap.

close to shinagawa station, excellent service, has a very elegant feel to it. good size room, the duvet is unbelivable. bed really comfy. ropes and slippers provided. I LOVE IT.

i stayed at shinagawa prince last time and it takes 2 mins from station but pacific hotel takes about 5.

I LOVE IT. It's grand. Elegant. Spacious. You can't say that about a lot of hotels in Japan. Hotel is closing in 2010 and i will definitely stay there again before it closes. It has a sister hotel near the harbour too. Also super grand.

Very nice and helpful staff; updated rooms are very nice

Shinagawa location is uninteresting

Great deal with Agoda. Upgraded to a renovated room when lower price rooms weren't available. Easy, fairly short walk from the Shinagawa train station. They allowed me to check in early; extremely helpful. Didn't eat breakfast because it was overly priced hotel fare. They seem environmentally conscious.

Hotel Feature Tip : Enter and exit on the second level; less uphill climb with your luggage.

Very friendly staff. Close to a big train station. Free internet (wired). Free newspaper.

Wifi would be great.

When using Agoda great price for the size and quality of room. Stayed in both regular and newly renovated room (free upgrade on second stay as regular rooms not available): older rooms very basic, fine for the price; renovated rooms very nice. Shinagawa is a pretty boring area. Convenient to the train station which is convenient to direct train line for many Tokyo destinitations.

Basically, the Hotel Pacific is in a good location, opposite the very convenient Shinagawa station. Apart from this, the garden is very impressive / serene.

The Pacific Hotel has a "old" feel to the place. From the rooms to the lobby to the front facade

For a 4-star hotel, the Hotel Pacific is acceptable. There is much more luxury / beauty in a 5-star hotel however ... the price differential is also significant. Given the good location and the acceptable facilities, the Hotel Pacific is value for money. If possible, take the time to explore or relax in the beautiful garden. I would return given the need.

Excellent location very close to Shinagawa station. Prime site, nice view.

Somewhat old.

Considering that the hotel will close in 2010, it's remarkable how well it's maintained. Service and attention is it always used to be. I have been coming here for more than 20 years and while I stayed in other hotels, this is still the one I like best, mainly due to its convenient location, prime site on which it is built and it's very competitive pricing.

Travel tip : Proximity to public transportation is key. Shinagawa station is a Shinkansen stop aside from many local lines.

Rooms are comfortable and well-lit. Internet is provided in each room. Conveniently located to Shinagawa JR Station.

Not the most fanciest hotel, but it's convenient and comfortable.

For a hotel in Japan, the room size was comfortable, well lit and it was a nice place to stay after a long day of traveling. We didn't plan to spend much time in the hotel, so it didn't matter how fancy it was, as long as we could get a good night's sleep. It was very easy to go to and from the railway station. Also, in the evening, it was also conveniently located to late-night eateries, especially ramen shops, in Shinagawa. Internet is free in each room, so we could check our email at the end of the day. All and all, this hotel covers all the basics for an overnight stay.

Nightlife Tip : After around 9:30pm, many of the department stores by the JR station offer 50% off their bentos and other prepared foods. Good way to stock up inexpensively for a night time snack.
