I think its a good hotel, its close to subway station, but the rooms are too small, also the bathroom, anyway, the housekeeping is very kind and they clean your room everyday.
Close to Ueno station.
Have computers and free internet.
The front desk crew are good English speakers.
The rooms are too small.
If you get a room downstairs its too noisy.
- Restaurant Tip : Close to Ueno there is a good restaurant you can have breakfast before starts your day...the name is Kitchen, its in the corner!

We stayed in Oak Hotel for one night.
My room was small but clean. The staff were friendly. Free internet was good. I didn't have food there so no idea about dining there.
Clean room, friendly staffs, free internet.
Small room and bathroom.
- Shopping Tip : "Ameyoko chou" is a good place to shop near ueno staion. There are many shops and prices are desirable.

What was a big thing for me was that it's 10-15 minutes away from JR Ueno station on foot and if you're lazy, you can take the Ginza line to Inaricho and come out 2 mins away from it. I found it easy to get to places like Asakusa, and if you're taking the Keisei Skyliner from Narita Airport which terminates at Ueno station, this is very convenient. Because JR Ueno is a big hub station, can also hop on the Yamanote line and get to many other places in Tokyo. It's also a surprisingly quiet neighborhood, so noise is minimal. If you're looking for a place that puts you in proximity to entertainment and nightlife though, this probably won't be for you.
The staff is friendly, internet cable is free, drink vending machine is available on the first floor, and if you need to check out before 6am, they'll give you back your 1000 yen key deposit, and you can just leave your card key in your room when you leave. The single room is small but just right for someone like me who's traveling with a medium-sized trolley and a backpack. Of course, having your own toilet and bath is always a plus. Yukata and towels are also provided as well as a hot water heater, and tv.
It's walking distance to a convenience store, and a family restaurant.
I've stayed at another hotel with higher rates for a more atmospheric stay but I still think Oak is a better choice. I'd definitely stay here again.
as the title says - for the price, it's a great location, easy access. The amenities are simple but adequate, and the internet is free.
Perhaps a bigger sign - the hotel is in a small driveway just off Asakusa dori, but if you're not sharp you may just miss it. Otherwise, there's not problem at all finding it. This wasn't a problem with me for the price, but they don't have a restaurant attached to their hotel, so you've no option if you don't feel like going out to eat.
- Hotel Feature Tip : Check out is normally at 10am for Japan hotels - being close to Ueno station is a boon for travelers who need to kill time before an evening flight, as they can just deposit their bags at a coin locker close to where you need to board the Keisei Skyliner.
