Ease of check-in
Helpful staff
Great location and friendly staff.
Staff were very helpful in providing information on train timetables and directions. Extremely useful especially when travelling around Tokyo and neighbouring areas via trains.
On ckeck-out our luggges were carefully tagged and escorted to bus terminal.
Restaurant Tip : Ducky Duck Restaurant.

great central location, amazing view of tokyo, near tons of shopping and restaurants, comfortable bed, free internet
room looked a bit dated, not many room service options
My stay at the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyo was pretty good. The check-in staff spoke English which was greatly appreciated. The room looked a bit dated but the view was spectacular and the bed was quite comfortable. This hotel is perfectly located for lots of shopping, people watching and local cuisine. It is also just a few steps away from the subways. The hotel has free internet of you bring your laptop which was so helpful. I definitely enjoyed my stay.
Shopping Tip : wandering around Shibuya for shopping can be fun...if you wander off the beaten path! make sure you turn down all the smaller side streets to find the best Japanese fashion around. Also, make sure to stop at the Parco department store to see what all the Tokyo girls are wearing.

Extremely convenient location, for shops, restaurants and bars, also for Yoyogi Park. Comfortable room, stunning views. Free internet. Convenient and inexpensive limo service to Narita airport.
The entrance on the subway was hard to find.
The TV control settings were disabled but the picture was set incorrectly to 'wide' with no way to adjust it.
Breakfast at the hotel is an expensive extra.
I had a bit of a struggle finding the hotel on arrival via subway train and eventually discovered the entrance at street level, in the Mark City entrance. Beyond that, I had an excellent stay.
My purpose of staying in Shibuya was to shoot a music video for a Japanese artist. The location of the hotel was super convenient and the stunning views from the 23rd view even afforded me the opportunity to shoot street scenes from my window.
The room and bed was very comfortable and clean, with a massive wide, flat-screen TV and a free ethernet broadband connection.
I was pleased to discover that the hotel also operates an inexpensive and convenient limo service to Narita airport.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu.
Restaurant Tip : Several French style coffee shops and a Starbucks nearby for an alternative to the hotel's own expensive breakfast option.

Great Location!!! Great View from the room and the elevator.
Non-Smoking room seemed to have had someone smoking in it before we arrived. You can't open the windows.
On our first day in Asia we checked into the Exel hotel. It was late and we were confused from jet lag and culture shock, but loved the location of the hotel. Even though it was 12am, the streets were full of people, bright lights and energy. The hotel staff was great and very helpful. The bathroom was very clean and comfortable, as was the room. The neighborhood was great for wondering all day and night, good shopping, lots of food options and the subway is just below the hotel.
Hotel Feature Tip : We didn't eat any food at the restaurant so we can't comment on the food.

fantastic location, great staff, beautiful clean rooms that are well-sized, incredible elevator that overlooks the shibuya crossing
none. only problem was a minor language barrier with one of the staff members but that's to be expected in a foreign country.
This hotel is all about luxury and convenience without paying unneccessary big bucks to stay somewhere like the Park Hyatt. You have everything you need here for a fun, comfortable, bustling Tokyo experience. Extremely easy to find (just a moments walk out of JR Shibuya) and you are a walk away from one of the world's biggest crossings! Great restaurants and shops surrounding the area. The buffet breakfast was fantastic too with a spectacular view overlooking Tokyo. I originally though this was a bit out of my price range but once staying here it was definitely worth it. Will be staying again in the future!

Very good location, great view.
expensive food, lots of nice cheap places to eat and drink within walking distance. Had to pay for internet use 100yen per 10mins
Awesome location, would recommend this hotel. Very close to train station for local travel and 3 stops away from the JR shinkansen line (shinagawa station).
Travel tip : Look for signs at train station to find hotel, they will take you to the right exit.

Location is an excellent. Direct bus to airport
I was really enjoyed my stay at this hotel so much that I booked it again on my return trip. The hotel is good value for a lower price. The rooms are basic but still nice. Nice rooms, great bathrooms, deep tub, high tech washy washy toilets, comfy slippers, and good food up on top of the facility.

Very clean rooms, great location and nice staff. Limousine bus directly from the airport to the hotel. (and the other way)
Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu has a great location, just in the heart of Shibuya and right next to Shibuya station.
The rooms are very clean, comfortable and just the right size. The staff speaks good English and are very helpful if you have any questions. A great useful thing is the free internet, which is included in all rooms. Unfortunately this hotel doesn't include breakfast and their restaurants are very expensive, so I recommend buying your own breakfast in the supermarket to have in the room.

The hotel is very convenience for shopping and locates opposite the shibuya station.
The hotel lobby is a bit small.
Although the hotel price is relatively higher end range, but overall, is worth it. Whether you are staying single or in a group, it's just so convenience to go everywhere. Also, they have limosine bus to and from the Narita airport.

Location is second to none!! Right next door to JRs shibuya station, you are in the heart of Tokyo’s shopping, eating and drinking hub. I have stayed at this hotel for the last 4 visits.
The lobby it on the 5th floor of the Mark City Building. Initially, this can be a little hard to find as hotel signage on the ground floor is very modest. Staff service can be a little touch and go. Whilst I have had some average service at this hotel, there is also some very helpful staff. Luck of the draw I guess.
The location of this hotel is its defining element. Not only is it right across the road from shibuya station (assuming you exit the station from the right gate; Hackiko), but also in the heart of shibuyas eating, drinking, karaoke’ing and shopping district. I find it to feel safer than Shinjuku and Roppongi, and only an exciting 20min walk to harajuku or omotesando. there are cheaper options, but no better location in my view. I have stayed in many hotels in Tokyo, and whilst the rooms at excell could be ‘warmer’, and the service a little more consistent, the location trumps any criticism I may have.
Shopping Tip : The mark city building has an amazing food court in the basement. When you exit the hotel, take the escalators immediately outside the ground floor entry down to the food court. Not a bad place to pick up something simple to eat. Presentation of food is astounding.

Location. In the middle of everything. Hundreds of restaurants, cafes and amusements. Stations are located right next to the hotel. Limousine bus arrives directly at the hotel.
Bed sheets and comforter are sort of thin, but it is not so bad.
I visit Tokyo once in a year and I always choose to stay this hotel. I can't think of anything bad about this hotel.

Location, room was relatively large with seperate lounge chair that overlooked the city skyline. We only caught the train when we needed to go to other parts of the city and even walked to Harajuku and gardens next to it. The foodstore at the basement of the building was good for getting breakfast.
Its too expensive for the quality of the room. In any other city you would get a swish room which is larger, more modern, lcd etc and use of a pool etc. But i guess that is just Japan. Hotel wouldnt offer a late checkout even tho the room was availible. Breakfast isnt included and is extortionately priced - much better to get a few items from bakery below.
Hotel is well located, you can walk to all shops, resteraunts and has handy things like massive luxury foodcourt {ie sells semi restaurant standard food - rather than slop from a seven eleven + food court has a few bakeries) plus there is some decent shops, restaurants and entertainment places nearby, If you have a jap rail pass then the loop line basically gets you everywhere you need to go.
Like most hotels in Japan this is let down by the fairly dated rooms, no breakfast included, no late checkout given - infact they ask you to checkout at 11am (so they take away the unwritten rule of 12 midday). But room is very comfortable and if you needed to spend a few days in Tokyo and you can get it for a good price then i guess you can justify it. If it included breakfast and a late checkout then id say it was a good but not great place to stay.
Restaurant Tip : There is a really nice Okonomiyaki place if you go to that major Shibuya crossing, take what appears to be the second street from the left and follow it up past mcdonalds and the back of HMV. A little bit past MCD's you will find it on your right and its very cheap and very tasty. They also do lunch and include miso soup, some yakisoba noodles and the okonomiyaki for 750yen!. Plus next door there is a cafe that serves food and decent coffee (jap standard) and cake.
There arent many other cafe places like that around the area (or what we would call a cafe over here in Aus)

Right in the center of Tokyo, spacious rooms, free Internet and very nice staff
We were three people - me and my two adult children - travelling together and I must admit that we were a little confused after reading the revues of this hotel. The negative comments in particular.
We were thrilled and loved our spacious room with three huge beds, a great view over Tokyo and the friendly staff. Every morning we grapped a cup of coffee from Starbucks downstairs before heading for Shibuya or the trainstation. We were right in the center of Tokyo with easy access to everything: Great shops, people, transportation and entertainment. We couldn't have asked for more.

With laptop, the internet connection is free and fabulous 24 hours. within a minute of walk in any direction there will be local-superb food venues available in endless choices and reasonable prices. At reception staffs were very friendly and helpful.
Bathroom amenities should include moisturiser. A few bottles of specified drinking water should be arranged as complimentary. Cable TV should have proper international sport channels such as; ESPN Channels, the TENNIS Channel, NBCsport Channels, Starsport Channels,...
Daily "FOOD SHOW" in the basement right across the street from the hotel is the most complete supermarket ever seen, and on top of the supermarket on the 1st floor the dessert/bakery shops were full-on with unbelievable selections, mesmerizing! METRO junctions right underneath the hotel tower turned out to be the most efficient, commuting quickly in and out will save much energy for better activities. From Excel Shibuya the other spectacular Tokyo neighborhoods only one or two stops away; Amotesando Hills, Harajuku, ...etc. METRO officers at Shibuya station were more helpful than expected. PASMO card is the way to go, getting one card for the whole trip, and one can reimberse back into cash with very minimum charge.
Restaurant Tip : Standing Sushi Bar "Ougashi Nihon-ichi" across the main cross-walk intersection, a two-minute walk from the hotel is a perfect place for dinner or lunch.
