Shinjuku Washington Hotel,

Rooms are quite small, barely enough space to walk with the luggages. The location is good with a link to the train station.

great location but small rooms
connected underground passag way from shinjuku station to hotel lobby
6.7
generally, this hotel located pretty near to shinjuku station. as expected, the room size is small especially in shinjuku area. the hotel room is clean but a bit smelly with cigarette. it is convenient as they have little english speaking counter for foreigners. you can change us dollar to japan yen using vending machine.

Great location but small rooms
Great location with Airport Limousine Bus stops right at the front door of the hotel. Wthin short walking distance from Shinjuku Station. You can even use the underground walkway all the way to avoid any rain. Clean but small rooms. 24hr convenient store right inside the hotel. Very close by Shinjuku Station and you can pretty much get anywhere by train from there.

the location is very nice. quiet but close to shinjuku station. we feel safe walking in the streets even at late hours. the staff is helpful even thought their english is limited. our main issue is the air conditioning system in the rooms; there is no adjustment that can be made. the room is too hot and stuffy at times. other than that, we really like this hotel.

Budget hotel at good location
Good price, good location, good facilities and clean
7.7
The hotel room is very small but it come with good facilities and all essential needs comparable to other much more expensive hotels in Tokyo. The room layout is well designed to have easy and convenience access to room facilities like TV, internet, lighting, control, and bath room facility.
The location is well positioned with a undergroud tunnel linked to Shinjuku Station. It is just next to the Government Office building for which you can find many access signate in Shinjuku Station. This make the hotel easily accessible even on raining days and for the traveller who is not familiar with the surrounding area near Shinjuku Station.

Very disappointing and unpleasant stay.
2
I'm afraid there were too many reasons why we were thoroughly disappointed with this hotel:
(1) It's a 15-20 minute walk from Shinjuku metro station, which makes it highly inconvenient to get to. The underground link is a longer route than above ground, though it comes in handy when it rains.
(2) Shinjuku station is such a huge train station that it was complex finding the right exit to get towards this hotel. This increases the amount of time taken to get to the hotel, and more often than not, we got to the hotel exhausted from a full day of sightseeing.
(3) The service was poor compared to the other same-star Tokyo hotel we stayed in, here's a list we encountered:
- The concierge was inefficient - there was often a long queue waiting to check in, the longest we've seen stretched for about 15 metres.
- There is no bell-boy service assisting with luggage to room
- We were told to help Amenities
- The check-out machines didn't work so we had to queue anyway
(4) The budget set-up of the hotel lobby, lifts and the rooms.
- The lift lobby was poorly lit
- The duvet felt dirty and dusty
- The toilets weren't well-maintained and are very poorly lit with an unpleasant smell
- The air-conditioning wasn't electronic. With just Low / Medium / High options, we were at the mercy of the vent - for 4 out of 5 nights we woke up sweating while it was winter outside, while 1 night the temperature was just right - very inconsistent standards!
(5) The lift / elevator system is cranky: More than once, upon indicating 'down', the lift we enter would head upwards instead. This caused much frustration among many tourists.
We expected much better from a country with high standards in service and culture. Our conclusion - please avoid booking this hotel as far as possible.
Restaurant Tip:
One plus point would be the Shinjuku 'Electric City' where you could grab your meals, about 15 minute walk from the hotel, near the Shinjuku metro station.

When I saw the offer of for a triple room with original price of I thought I am getting a very good deal even though I don't need a triple room. We thought that we will be getting a very big and nice room. Imagine the shock when we saw the room, we were so disappointed, it was so small and the window was so tiny with hardly any view and the bathroom looks like those that they use on board the cruises ship, something that you just fix in. I was so afraid that my daughter will fall off when she use the toilet as it was so high up and there wasn't any wardrobe, just something to hang up your cloths.

Central location but ageing decor and fittings
Reasonably priced and staff were generally very helpful, as well as fluent in English. As expected in Japan the rooms were neat and tidy.
6.7
We stayed in a triple room and while the room was definitely larger than a typical twin room, our travel companions were in an atypically large twin room with larger beds in an adjacent room. They however had problems with their toilet, while we had problems with the ventilation in the room. In our 6 night stay our room was almost unbearably stuffy, and the only solution offered was to open our window. Given the localised high pressure in the room, this generally proved highly ineffective. Other than these issues our stay was relatively good and the information desk was a great help.
