Quiet, elegant luxury

Location, comfort, service.
9.7
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay of 11 nights at this hotel in late March, early April 2013. Location. It is located in Akasaka, on a hill right behind Hie-Jinja, a major Shinto shrine of Tokyo. One can see the hotel from Sotobori-dori, the main thoroughfare that runs in front of the shrine. But there is no access to the hotel from Sotobori-Dori. By car, one has to drive into a side street then up the hill. On foot, it is best to go up the shrine and follow a hidden footpath to the main hotel entrance. This means that the establishment is pretty much protected from the hubbub of Sotobori-Dori. There is a secluded luxury to such a location. This is very Japanese (or French for that matter.) True luxury is never displayed ostentatiously but kept somewhat hidden. However, seclusion in this case does not mean isolation. Indeed, one simply has to go up to the shrine from the hotel, go down the main staircase to Sotobori-dori, and cross to the other side to find oneself in the action of the back alleys of Akasaka. Shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs of all stripes. Going up Sotobori-dori, one soon runs into Aoyama-dori, another major thoroughfare lined with all manners of fancy establishments, for example a dealer for McLaren cars! In a nutshell, this location combines the best of both worlds: quiet uncrowdedness but not too far from the ‘action’ should one chooses to partake. This is a rare combination in Tokyo. Places like Shibuya and Shinjuku are quite lively but there, one could never escape from the crush of humanity. Finally, I enjoyed very much going through the shrine everyday as I came and went. Transportation. There is a subway station right below the hotel. One can take the elevator in front of the bell captain’s desk down to the station. Officially it is Tameike-sanno but like most subway stations in Tokyo, it is linked via tunnels to many neighboring stations. In this case, one could walk from Tameike-sanno to Kokkai-gijidomae, and even Nagata-cho and Akasaka

Nice hotel, close to metro, good sized room

View, acess to metro, japanese hospitality
8.7
we booked a deluxe king room for two nights, the room was nice, with a spectacular view. the access to the metro is very easy, even if you have to walk a lot to catch some lines. hotel decoration is impressive, with a mix of modern and traditional japanese design. the swimming pool is also a big plus, and was not too crowded in the morning. we recommend the hotel if you want to spend time in a quiet cocoon in the center of tokyo.

Affordable 5 Star hotel

Exceptionally helpful, courteous staff, spacious well-appointed view rooms
10
This is the most enjoyable hotel in Tokyo - centrally located with easy access to public transportation, a stone's throw from the phenomenal restaurants that adorn the streets of Akasaka. This is a world class hotel and deserves the highest possible recommendation.
Travel tip: Advance purchase discount makes this the best bargain in Tokyo for this 5 Star facility. The shower/tub combo alone is larger than most hotel rooms in Tokyo. You owe it to yourself to experience this city staying at this hotel.

Great location and nice room

Excellent location for subways, business and shopping. A large twin room with nice view
9.7
I have stayed at several 5-star hotels in Tokyo before but I never realized that how great this hotel was. Great location for business and shopping. You can get to subway station without going out of the hotel. Rooms are large and beautiful with Shoji screen. Great fitness center with a pool and a hot tub. I don't want to see a female bellman, but it seems to be common in Japan. Overall, this hotel has excellent service.
Restaurant Tip: Try Prosoycrab (Pro Kanjankejan) in Social Akasaka Building 2F in Akasaka (several min. walking distance) Great Korean crab dishes.
