In this quaint, historic town there can be no better place to stay than a hotel that is a mix of the old and the new. Located in Ban Chan village, the resort is across the Mekong River and be reached in 30 minutes from the airport halfway by car and then a short ferry ride. The resort is also the only place in the city making traditional pottery and guests can try a hand or just be appreciative observers. At the riverside restaurant guests can enjoy local cuisine as well as Asian and western dishes. Guests can even choose to enjoy a meal in the open by the river. Chanthavinh Resort and Spa is indeed worth visiting!

Guests also enjoy complimentary boat transfer upon arrival and departure from the resort's own pier near Sangkhalok School. Please provide your arrival details upon reservation.

It is a lovely hotel but too far from town. Arrange pick up if taking slow boat to avoid hassle with tuk tuk. Dinner food was poor. There is a shuttle service to city center. Pool was great. We would not stay again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
be sure to take boat trip up river to whiskey village and cave. you can arrange through hotel at good price

When the taxi from the airport turned in at the sign for the resort, I thought Oh, Oh, this is going to be a letdown. It was actually a slipway for the boat ride across the Mekhong to the resort. After climbing the steps to the resort we had a welcome drink as we filled out our forms before being shown to our rooms with balcony overlooking the river. The rooms were clean and sizeable with tv, fridge and aircon. Access to town was available with free shuttle to and from centre.
Travel tip:
Not for people with step climbing difficulties.
