Quiet and has a good view of the Mekong; unfortunately my room only has partial view
Rooms are comfortable.
Too far from town.
The exterior of the hotel needs a fresh coat of paint; it looks like a run down old barrack.
Quiet but verging on eerie.
Set breakfast can be improved; its too basic.
Nice Touch

My stay at The Grand Hotel in Luang Prabang was an incredible experience. Upon arrival our reservation was not on file and we were immediately upgraded for 2 of our 5 nights to their Executive Mekong Suite for the inconvenience. Rooms were clean and spacious, and I would recommend getting a river view. The Pool was immaculate and the surrounding grounds were beautifully manicured. The location of the Grand is off the beaten path, so if its privacy you're looking for look no further. But if you do enjoy spending time on the main strip be aware that you are going to have to do a lot of travelling. The hotel offers 6 free time designated shuttles, 2 in the morning, afternoon, and evening. All other times require you to pay $2 US per person. The only true con I have was the breakfast. Of all the hotels we stayed at during our SE Asia trip, this one offered the least selection.
View of Mekong, spacious rooms, helpful staff, beautiful pool.
Location, breakfast.
- Hotel Feature Tip : If you are looking to have a beautiful view of the Mekong River, be sure to ask for a second level room in block 7.
Disappointed, poor location, not great value

No WIFI and you must pay for a slow connection at reception, no tea/coffee in room, empty mini bar in room, breakfast food all located outside with lots of ants, hotel very far from centre, unreliable shuttle bus service, charged us for airport transfers after firstly stating that it was free, not great value for price you pay.
Grounds on which hotel is situated.
No WIFI, no tea/coffee, empty mini bar, very far from centre.
- Restaurant Tip : Lots of really nice guesthouses located in centre near restaurants, markets & bars.
Very nice

Very nice coronial buildings makes this hotel. Hotel staff speaks English. That is very convenient in this country, not so many people in Lao speaks English so they can be helpful. The hotel is not in the center of the town but they have bus to take you to town every hour and pick you up from the town so it help alot and it is better that you can enjoy the town and nature.
View from hotel is excellent. Rooms are very clean and nice.
Very beautiful buildings and beautiful pool
nothing i disliked about the hotel
- Nightlife Tip : Relax at the hotel in daytime and go to the town at night!

The hotel grounds are beautiful and just sitting by the pool or on your room's patio is wonderful. The breakfast is more than adequate and I ate lunch at the hotel and was quite satified.
Since it is some distance from town, the hotel has a shuttle bus. The times are not always convenient for going to or returning from town. There isn't a trip to town in the early morning to catch the monk procession and in the afternoon the return to the hotel is quite late. But one can always get a tuk-tuk back to the hotel for around 15,000 kip.

It is hard to adequately describe this most perfect hotel. It is a bit out of town, but the hotel goes to lengths to make transportation easy, and it is worth the drive. The staff were warm, welcoming and efficient. They immediately assisted us in every way we required. I recommend this hotel very highly.
Breathtaking view; perfectly clean, lovely rooms; stunning gardens alongside the beautiful Mekong; beautiful restaurant with great food; wonderful staff who can arrange anything you need.
none
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't miss climbing the small mt in town & setting free some birds that you purchase "for luck"; or the monks who walk along the streets every dawn with bowls for offerings. Great night market. We liked JoMa for coffee and Joy for dinner.
Great facilities

I paid $70 for the deluxe room but some speacial requests are not supported, example airport transfer. As I booked via Agoda with special promotion. Therefore you should check well before booking. The parts of the promotion are very good.
- Hotel Feature Tip : The swiming pool and the garden are great!
Just relax at the hotel I think.
beauty of a hotel in a tranquil town

A little far from town, and the tuk-tuk prices in LP are not reasonable - but a wonderful retreat with great rooms and a five-star swimming pool.

The hotel is surely a very good choice in Luang Prabang. It feels really like living in a old noble villa. The distance from the town 4 kms) is quite compensated by the vicinity to the river and an unique silence and peace. Shuttle van to town are quite helpfull, but maybe that a better timetable could be studied. The kindness of the young and efficient staff is surely a plus.
