Le Bel Air - Super nice and memorable
The place is impeccably clean, staff is attentive and friendly, ready to accommodate any whim, restaurant is good, inexpensive, location is scenic, very pretty, relaxing, picturesque.
9.7
I confused the name of this with The Legend in Chiang Rai in my initial review, but my feeling was genuine. I would go back to this place in a flash, given the opportunity. If anybody has a novel or screenplay in them this could be the ideal location to write it. Oh, can you tell I loved it?
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Went to a school for orphans and distributed writing tablets and pencils, rode elephants, and a long boat upstream. Walked the rickety bridge and climbed Mt. Phousi. Shop at the night market while you can or regret it later.

De-luxe oasis
quiet and beautiful location on the river; setting/gardens; ambiance; friendly and helpful staff; bungalow rooms outstanding; very good and inexpensive dinner; very good breakfast
10
We had booked 2 nights and ended up staying 3 because it was so wonderful. We were so disappointed with our other hotel choice in Luang that despite having paid for it already we cancelled the second night there to return to Le Bel Air. We were upgraded from a deluxe room to a bungalow for our entire stay and the bungalows are outstanding, offering space, comfort and amenities well beyond their price (even at the full price). The staff are all friendly, couteous and helpful. Many are young students from other parts of Laos who are studying English in Luang. The Manager is extremely professional and speaks excellent English. The hotel provides good quality bikes suitable for cycling on the dirt roads along the river as well as journeying into town. Le Bel Air's location is a major benefit, a beautiful garden with wooden loungers right on the river, a delightful bridge over the river to the main part of the City (bikes and walking only). A very restful oasis about 1 km away from the crowded backpacker-oriented downtown. Dinner in the wooden terrace restaurant is very good and inexpensive compared with similar restaurants in town. The (free) breakfast is also very good. Le Bel Air was by far our favourite hotel in Laos, and we stayed in 4, including one at a much higher price.

If you want an oasis and good value
An oasis near town, quiet, peaceful, very attentive, spacious rooms, good breakfast, wi-fi, extremely reasonable price.
9.7
We higly recommend this hotel if you don't feel you need to stay right in the middle of things in town. We like to have a place that is within walking distance, but quiet and peaceful, and this was perfect. It's on the river, across a bike/walking bridge. They supply funky cruisers that we used during the day. Walking in and back at night wasn't a problem, about 15 minutes each way, and mostly level. They also provide van service at set hours if you prefer. They were good on airport pickup and return and are very close to it (on the flightpath for infrequent flights). The manager was friendly and attentive as well, and upgraded us from the 'classic' to 'deluxe' room without our even asking.
Shopping Tip:
This is the place to score amazing textile handicrafts. While the night market is a major attraction, the highest quality stuff is found in the shops. Don't miss the food stand alley for dinner in the night market, the grilled fish and chicken are the best!

A Relaxed and Pleasant Stay in Luang Prabang
The location of Le Bel Air is a bit away from the Luang Prabang proper but don't take that as a negative. It is located on the other side of Kam River and is connected to the old town by the Old Bridge. The hotel runs shuttle between the old town and the property and also provides the bicycles for the guests if you don't want to take the 20 minutes walk to the town center. The place is best for people who want to relax, sit under the tree and sip tea or read. Actually the whole of LP has this kind of feel. It is not like Angkor Wat or Chiang Mai and of course nowhere near the frenzy that's Bangkok. The staff are very friendly and really try hard to make my stay enjoyable.
9
The place is good for people looking for a few days' relaxing after a long trip of intense sightseeing (e.g. Angkor or Thailand) before proceed on to the next destination. Even though the sights of LP is not on the par with Angkor or Chiang Mai, it does have the advantage of being a place of cooler climate and slower pace which allow the travelers to take a break. Le Bel Air provides this respite beautifully.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The river boat trip to the cave in the morning can get cold. Wear long pants and a sweater or jacket.

Beautiful Luangprabang
Polite staffs - Beautiful view -
Peaceful location - Comfortable bed - Clean and good food
8.7
Staffs are always very polite and try to help even they don't speak perfect english. Make us feel like we're very welcome there. The view of the bridge over the Nam Kan river is unique and from the garden you can see highest temple in Luangprabang. Wat Pra Buddhabaht-Phu si hill. Hotel location is quiet and relax, perfect for honeymooners. Not in the city center but they provide the shuttle bus. We had a Bungalow no.9 It's a proper size for two person, the bed is very comfortable, clean and soft sheet.

Le Bel Air review
Beautiful location. Amazing service/attention. Very friendly staff.
9.3
Overall this place is amazing. We had 5 in our group and everyone fell in love with this hotel. We had both the bungalows and a room in the main building. Everthing is made of local materials by local craftsman. This includes bathtub and sink made of bricks and formed concrete...a bit odd. Also our doors were more like castle doors with iron bolts and padlocks instead of door knobs. It makes for a very authentic feel and in the end it all works and serves it's purpose. Inside there are oversized split unit Air Condidtioners that are very quiet and effective. Beds are done with european duvet style bedding with high thread count cotton linens. (5 stars for beds and linens).
The grounds are tropical and very well kept. Breakfast is simple and includes made to order omeletts/eggs, crisp bacon, breads, cereals, and asian noodles or fried rice. Everything is good quality. Town is a bit far and really needs a tuk tuk to get to the center of town. They drove us into town for free everytime I asked for a tuk tuk. Return trips by tuk tuk were usually around $3.oo US.
Hive bar, lao lao garden (my favorite restaraunt), and utopia are a 5-10min walk across the bridge and do not need transport.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
kwang si falls are amazing. Do not miss them.

Cozy Boutique Hotel
good location in walking distance from the town center, spacey and comfortable rooms, breakfast buffet, staff very friendly staff
9.3
The hotel is boutique style, located in a lush garden environment directly at the old pedestrian bridge over the Khan river. The rooms are spacious, having a bathroom with hot shower you may appreciate returning from trekking. The breakfast buffet is delicious and the staff very caring and friendly. A value for money accommodation when visiting Luang Prabang

Le Bel Air, Luang Prabang
9.7
This lovely small boutique hotel is 15 minutes walk from the town across the rickety french bridge. The hotel offers a free shuttle service and free bikes. Rooms are good. breakfast good. Grounds lovely right on the river. It has recently been expanded to provide more rooms and more bungalows. Only a handful of bungalows are on the river. Dinner was good at the restaurant
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Waterfall trip on a tuk tuk very worthwhile
take your swimming things
