Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Quiet hotel with adequate service
Good location, good breakfast included in price/
8.3
Despite my having a prepaid package fully paid for, the hotel insisted that I pay upon departure again. All attempts to correct this situation have been ignored so far, both by Agoda and by the Phousi Hotel staff.
Travel tip:
Don't trust them for the financial aspects of your stay.

Beautiful hotel with quiet peaceful grounds
9.3
Night market is just across the street. MeKong River just 1 block away. Palace is 2 blocks also Mt. Phousi. At dawn each morning the monks bring their alms bowls in procession across the street from the hotel. The rooms are nicely done with big windows looking out through the parklike grounds to the busiest corner in town. They are beautifully furnished and the beds very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.
This was my second time staying at the Phousi and I know I will stay there again.

Restaurant Tip:
The Tamarind Restaurant was a happy surprise. The Lao food was deliciously cooked and presented. We had heard that it is a buffet, and it is in a way, they choose the food and it is a sampler of everything ending with a sticky rice tamarind sauce dessert to die for.

Excellent location and facilities
location, lovely garden, good conference facilities
8.7
the location of the hotel is ideal: right at the place where the daily evening market begins, accross the street from a big shopping center and within easy walking distance from all the tempels and the royal palace. the staff is friendly and helpfull at all times, although english is not their strongest quality. breakfast was a less positive experience: the choice is minimal, the bread is too heavy and the service too slow. the absence of a restaurant is no problem as there are plenty of restaurants of all kinds nearby.
Restaurant Tip:
'The House' on Phousy Road: good food and great Belgian beers

Overpriced
Close to everything, especially night markets
4.3
We found the staff very unhelpful and the rooms were very old and tired. The fridge didn't work and when the power went off for several hours there was no water.
There was certainly better places nearby for better prices.

Great location but the bathrooms are very poor
5.7
The hotel is at a good location near the Mekong river, the Hmong market and other tourist attractions. All walking distance from the hotel. The garden of the hotel is impressive. The rooms are spcious but the bathrooms are extremely poor. They are very small and the water supply (hot water) for showering is not good with often loss of pressure. Staff is very quiet. One day the breakfast was already cleaned up before the official breakfast time was finished.

it could have been worse
Location, nice old building
5.7
Arriving around 9 pm the night crew didn't seem very welcoming. Of course I didn't see it that way, but they just didn't had an alternative. Since I was tired I agreed to take the less attractive room if they could give me the booked room the next day. No offer of compensation from their part. The first room they took me to was not cleaned, or maybe still in use: towels on the ground etc. Finally I got to a room in the corner of the building. Not bad: clean, lots of wood, but not thrills. The most annoying part was no hot water from the shower. The next day I moved to a smaller room, but with at least the bed I had booked. Also no hot water. Breakfast was acceptable, but nothing special as well.
The hotel has a good location (but hey, LP is very small) and the building and grounds are beautiful. Everything is acceptable, but no way worth the money they ask.
