Less and 200 feet walk to everything. Stylish accomodations.
Very cute, unique hotel. You can see palace from hotel. Near to the night market and morning market. All temples and restaurants, mekong river are within walking distance. Very Helpful staff.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Dont book Pak Ou Cave trip with any shops. Go directly to the pier by 8AM. It will be only 50K kip by purchasing directly at the pier.

Right next to morning markets, on the Monk route in the morning, a stones through from the night markets, hop, skip and a jump to the Mekong River, and a stroll to the town centre.
We just loved it here. The staff were amazingly accomodating and friendly. The service was great. We were able to comfortably enjoy the facilities while our children were sleeping since the hotel was so small and well set out. The rooms are tastfully decorated and comfortable. It really is just such an idyllic spot.

I really loved this hotel. Great ambiance, good location, nice staff, comfortable beds...good pillows especially.
I can't think of any cons.
Not only did I love staying here, but I accidentally left my blackberry charger and the hotel staff kindly gave it to the bus driver for the overnight bus to Vientiane and I had my charger back which was a life saver! I also liked that this hotel was a bit removed from the backpacker scene but still close to everything.

Good location, close to night market, morning market, restaurants, etc. Nice looking property.
The breakfast is fine, with quick service. The people are very nice and go out of their way to be helpful.
The rooms lack any seating other than on the bed. The lighting is dim, so in inclement weather you are stuck in a dimly lit room, sitting on a bed trying to read. There is no pool or patio (at least not on our side of the building.)
Our first room was damp and smelled of mildew. the bed (mattress on floor platform) was hard and we slept poorly. We were offered three other rooms at the same price, but they had the same beds. The staff re-made the bed and put another comforter on under the sheet, to add more padding. Because of the mold, we asked about upgrading to a "suite." They immediately moved us upstairs to a much larger room with a raised bed, jacuzzi tub, and Lao-style seating area. We slept well and awoke to a rain storm - at which time we found out the roof leaked! A strategically placed wastebasket caught the water...but we decided it was time to move on.
Hotel Feature Tip : the front of the hotel is noisy in the early mornings; the rear tends to be damp and smells of mildew. I'd opt for a side room; they have little patios in front.

- Strategic location, close to the morning and night market
- Friendly staff and interesting interior design
- Would be good to include safety briefing for guests during registration and a notice on emergency procedure included in the room.
Had a great stay in Ramayana. Located next to the morning market, you can take a walk to the local wet market after breakfast. The good thing about Ramayana is that it is not facing the main road hence you have the comfort of taking a short walk away from the crowd from the main street before reaching the hotel. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The interior design of the hotel is an interesting feature of the hotel that you will appreciate with the details and images of Buddha. From the door handle to the classic telephone set, Ramayana gives you the boutique hotel experience that you will remember in Luang Prabang.

I can't think of one-the fact that it is centrally located means little, given that there are so many guesthousees in Luang Prabang that are equally, if not better located
EVERYTHING-there is no "hotel"-the staff admitted this-it is only a guesthouse, and a very poorly managed one at that!
Do NOT be deceived by the pictures of this so-called "hotel and spa"-it is neither a hotel nor a spa, but, as staff admitted to me, a guesthouse-with overwrought interior decor, utterly poorly designed rooms-that I considered downright dangerous, tiny, little windows-a horrible place-you cannot sleep-there is constant noise-virtually no security-anyone can walk off the street right into the main part of the guesthouse-they couldn't even manage a wake-up call early in the morning-honestly, I haven't stayed in accomodation this bad in a long long time-I would avoid this guesthouse at all costs-the only reason they call it a "hotel" is because there is a little space around the building-I cannot emphasize the noise, the lack of management, the poorly trained staff-those weird white tents they have in the little garden space (to appear as if they have a spa, which, as staff admitted to me as well, they don't).
Hotel Feature Tip : The fact that the Hmong Night Market is at one end of the street in the evening is not enough of a reason to stay at this poorly run guesthouse-NOT a hotel-there are at least 8 or 9 other guesthouses in the direct vicinity that are far better value for money than this creepy place with its over-the-top, useless, uncomfortable, and downright dangerous rooms (there is a tiny little two inch ledge in the bathroom where you can stub your toe, and then fall down into the bedroom since the bathroom is incomprehensibly one foot higher than the bedroom itself). The bedroom has an enormously uncomfortable and unnecessary platform bed that takes up all the little room there is, and sticks out one foot around on all sides, with the mattress plopped on top-horrible-you hear cats (or something else) skittering over the pitched roof in the middle of the night, and then the rooster starts crowing at 3 am! There is virtually NO light in the rooms-no view-nothing to commend this place whatsoever!

The hotel is very conveniently located - close to the morning market, close to the night market, and just opposite National museum and the Royal Palace, plus it's just within walking distance to the major town centre! Mount Phousi is also just opposite! Loving it!
Well, some may say its sound proof are not so good, this I agree! But then again, staying in an antique house, we already expected that! We can compromise with this!
Besides, You don't sleep late in Luang Prabang - there are so many exciting things happening early in the morning!

I love the staff's friendly attitude - they go beyond the limit to make us feel welcomed! I was so touched by their service!

All Hotels were excellent and reasonably good value for money.
Give customer who comes the best location in the hotel especially if he has a short stay ! Not the worst !
I liked the selction of all the hotels - The Luxor in Hanoi, Tara Ankor in Siam Reap, Bodhi Serene in Chiangmai and the Lebua State tower was the best.
Hotel Feature Tip : This next to the grand palace and the river - Excellent location - very central

lovely authentic room, friendly staff, great location close to riverside.
building work early in the morning!
We stayed for three nights at Ramayana and would definitely go back.
The hotel has a perfect loction, close to the town and the riverside.
Breakfast was great and the staff were lovely.
We had a double room with an extra bed and still found the room very spacuious.
The only drawback was that there was building work going on which started very early and woke us up.

surrounding views, mosquitos
I was first impressed by knowing that the hotel used to be a Laotian princess residency. All decoration was very nice. Location was very convenient. The morning market, night maket, national museum and Phusi mountain are within walking distance. Down site: during our stay, there was a construction site nearby. It was very noisy. Area for improvement could be transportation to and from airport. The hotel should provide the transportation service.

In the centre of Luang Prabang, nice clean room, friendly staff
Breakfast was a bit minimal
Hotel is situated in the center of town next to the Royal Palace (closed on Tuesday) and the day and nightmarket (closing down at around 22.00). Hotel close to the Mekong river and next to a tempel, which might wake you up at 5.00 a.m. with their gongs and sometime the drum. On the other hand it gives you a bit of Buddhist atmosphere. As there are min. 36 tempels in Luang Prabang I wonder whether one will not hear everywhere the gongs and drums. Rooms are furnished very nice with wood. We did book a room at the backsite of the hotel as it is noisy in the front. At the backsite of the hotel there are some building activities, but they do not start very early (before 7-8.a.m. Breakfast could do better.

Location, free internet in lobby, nice breakfast, big clean room, bath.
2 days without power, but the whole city of Luang Prabang sufferd from this.
Good hotel in an excellent location right next to the Royal Palace Museum. 2 minutes walk from the Mekong River and Phou Si Mountain. Nice staff always giving you a friendly greeting when arriving at the hotel. Rooms are big with a nice jet-stream powered bath. We did not use the hotel spa so no opinion about that.

A few meters from the main road. Apart from bustling traffic. But the location is still close to everywhere. Just next to Royal Palace, Vat Mai and Phousi Hill. In the evening night market in the main street. The hotel and restaurant has beautiful settings and friendly staffs.
Can;t help the hotel close to local market. Early morning a bit noisy, but doesn't disturb very much. Areas that needs improvement is juice during breakfast.
Exceed our expectation, Agoda could offer such an excellent hotel with bargaining price. We enjoyed our stay during in Luang Prabang. The location is almost perfect. The hotel is very stylish. And the staffs are friendly and polite. The room is beautifully decorated, clean and super big bed. A bit less point is the bath tub and wash basin. It is really worth for the price.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The most fascinating we did is the elephant ride and tat kuang si waterfall. 1 1/2 hour elephant ride and swimming in the waterfall. Cool. Also nice is bike around the city. The ancient is not that big, therefore easy to bike. Better early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Enjoy drinks or dinner during sunset along the Mekong River. Or wake up early in the morning and giving alms to the monks. We woke up at 5 and biked to school in the main street. In front of the school we bought sticky rice and sat in front the school. Around 5.30 the monks started walking and passing by. Hundred of monks, so everybody got a little rice. We bought 2 baskets and bought another 2 baskets. But still can't give to every monks. They kept walking and stopped only for a few second to get alms. Really fast. It is the most wonderful vacation.

Location could not be better, tastefully updated rooms, helpful staff.
Breakfast limited as "American style"; generous if continental.
The Ramayana is apparently a new hotel in an older, historic building. It is an ideal place to stay, not only because the hotel itself is beautifully renovated, but because the location is perfect for exploring Luang Prabang. As the city itself, with its lovely quiet streets lined with old shops and houses is rightfully designated a world heritage site, this is a great advantage. The National Museum is across the street, Wat Mai is at the corner, several other temples within a fifteen minute walk, and the tourist office is close by. The morning market, where locals trade fruits, vegetables, and more exotic fare, is down the block in one direction; the night market, which seems to cater primarily to tourists, down the block the other. The rooms have been thoughtfully redone in ethnic chic, and are quite atmospheric—ours even came with a critter nestled in the rafters who shrieked unseen every once in a while.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Museum, temples, markets all very close by.

Central location, professional staff.
Not a boutique, not a spa. Very good staff, all well trained and professional, better English than most places. The hotel has been beautifully restored two years ago, from a badly delapidated former meeting house for the king's ministers. Nicely decorated in traditional furniture and fabrics and art. A bit dark in the room. Very large twin bed room. Beautiful wood.
Right across the street from the former king's palace, now the national museum, and next to where monks make their daily procession to ask for alms at 5 a.m. The hotel will assist you with information and even sticky rice if you want. We went and then to the street market also next door, afterwards and before breakfast. It starts to set up at 4 a.m. and the monk's first prayer bell goes off then too. Even so, it was worth it.
We were only at the Ramayana one night and we enjoyed it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : See commments above re the monks and the street market.
