A few meters from the main road. Apart from bustling traffic. But the location is still close to everywhere. Just next to Royal Palace, Vat Mai and Phousi Hill. In the evening night market in the main street. The hotel and restaurant has beautiful settings and friendly staffs.
Can;t help the hotel close to local market. Early morning a bit noisy, but doesn't disturb very much. Areas that needs improvement is juice during breakfast.
Exceed our expectation, Agoda could offer such an excellent hotel with bargaining price. We enjoyed our stay during in Luang Prabang. The location is almost perfect. The hotel is very stylish. And the staffs are friendly and polite. The room is beautifully decorated, clean and super big bed. A bit less point is the bath tub and wash basin. It is really worth for the price.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The most fascinating we did is the elephant ride and tat kuang si waterfall. 1 1/2 hour elephant ride and swimming in the waterfall. Cool. Also nice is bike around the city. The ancient is not that big, therefore easy to bike. Better early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Enjoy drinks or dinner during sunset along the Mekong River. Or wake up early in the morning and giving alms to the monks. We woke up at 5 and biked to school in the main street. In front of the school we bought sticky rice and sat in front the school. Around 5.30 the monks started walking and passing by. Hundred of monks, so everybody got a little rice. We bought 2 baskets and bought another 2 baskets. But still can't give to every monks. They kept walking and stopped only for a few second to get alms. Really fast. It is the most wonderful vacation.

Location could not be better, tastefully updated rooms, helpful staff.
Breakfast limited as "American style"; generous if continental.
The Ramayana is apparently a new hotel in an older, historic building. It is an ideal place to stay, not only because the hotel itself is beautifully renovated, but because the location is perfect for exploring Luang Prabang. As the city itself, with its lovely quiet streets lined with old shops and houses is rightfully designated a world heritage site, this is a great advantage. The National Museum is across the street, Wat Mai is at the corner, several other temples within a fifteen minute walk, and the tourist office is close by. The morning market, where locals trade fruits, vegetables, and more exotic fare, is down the block in one direction; the night market, which seems to cater primarily to tourists, down the block the other. The rooms have been thoughtfully redone in ethnic chic, and are quite atmospheric—ours even came with a critter nestled in the rafters who shrieked unseen every once in a while.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Museum, temples, markets all very close by.

Central location, professional staff.
Not a boutique, not a spa. Very good staff, all well trained and professional, better English than most places. The hotel has been beautifully restored two years ago, from a badly delapidated former meeting house for the king's ministers. Nicely decorated in traditional furniture and fabrics and art. A bit dark in the room. Very large twin bed room. Beautiful wood.
Right across the street from the former king's palace, now the national museum, and next to where monks make their daily procession to ask for alms at 5 a.m. The hotel will assist you with information and even sticky rice if you want. We went and then to the street market also next door, afterwards and before breakfast. It starts to set up at 4 a.m. and the monk's first prayer bell goes off then too. Even so, it was worth it.
We were only at the Ramayana one night and we enjoyed it.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : See commments above re the monks and the street market.
