Pleasant hotel in quiet but central location

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days at Villa Meuang Lao. We had requested a quiet room and were given one upstairs at the back which was certainly very peaceful but I doubt there is a noisy room on the property. The a/c was just coping. Loved the location - central to everything. Make sure you get out early and see the food market that sets up in the surrounding streets. We weren't tempted to try the cicadas and frogs and similar delicacies but it was fascinating to see. And we were able to buy baguettes for breakfast the morning our card failed at the ATM which we combined with the free bananas and tea/coffee available at reception - perfect while we got the problem sorted. The manager has incredibly good English which he told us he learnt by listening to the radio and practising - amazing! He was also particularly helpful in suggesting places to eat etc. The hotel does not have a restaurant so there is no breakfast apart from the bananas, tea/coffee/water and really delicious rice cakes which are available all day. Highly recommended budget hotel.

You can definitely get cheaper around Luang Prabang at the various guesthouses, but the quality of those stays vary a lot from what I've heard. Villa Meung Lao's really pretty good for a decently priced hotel that has all and a bit more of the basic amenities. The location is really good. Near enough to everyone else, but on a quiet side street.

It was worthwhile to stay at villa Meuang Lao. The price was not so expensive. The room was big and clean. Its location is great, right in old town of Luang Prabang. Most of tourist attractions are in walking distance. Though breakfast was not included, you could find many restaurants or food vendors nearby. We will stay here again we visit Luang Prabang.

People are freindly, you are really close to the day market and the night market. If you want a see the monks in the morning you go by walk. The room are clean and good size.
