shabbier than it looks, crap decour, touristy
it's right on the monks' morning route...if you want to get in on the hyped up tourist masses snapping pics
It's not a bad place -- just not nearly as nice as pictures on the website showed. The room was gaudy and kind of slap-dash, pretty noisy, and there are definitely many better, cleaner, quieter, nicer possibilities for that price all around Luang Prabang (we stayed in two others). If you want to watch the monks go by in the morning (amid the hordes of tourists doing the same) then a room with a balcony here would be a good location. But then again, we booked one and were told that we couldn't have it because "government people" were coming and had claimed those rooms. So we got a bad room instead. The front desk folks were polite enough, but not very helpful. It is across the street from a beautiful wat. Oh, and the beds are rock hard. And I like hard beds. But these were like sleeping on the floor.

Great location to watch morning alms
Location
Great place to watch the morning alms, cheapest room is opposite the wat, second floor have balcony facing the street. Room is really small, bed is hard, but towels are nice and clean. Easy walk to cafes and restaurants, close to night market and many temples around.

Nice place
Nice atmosphere, good location
This is a nice little hotel in old town with a very good location. The room is on the small side and could benefit from some dusting, and the walls in the new annex building are paper thin, so you will hear your nighbour breathe. There is no breakfast served here, but actually it dosn't matter, the area is full of nice little places to go for breakfast and other meals.

Lovely Boutique Hotel
location, rooms, staff
This hotel was within easy walking distance to restaurants, the tourist area and night markets. There are bikes available for rent if you want to explore further. The room we stayed in was comfortable and a decent size. We didn't stay in there much though. The room was a little bit stuffy when the aircon was off but it wasn't too bad. The bathroom had a separate toilet and shower which was a nice change from traditional asian open-plan bathrooms that we had at other hotel. The hotel is right across the road from a temple and if you get up at sunrise you will be able to see the monks receiving alms. It's well worth it. Staff were friendly and always greeted us with a smile.

Loud Monks, lovely hotel
Clean, pretty, balcony overlooking a temple
We stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed a very relaxing stay. The hotel itself is very well kept with a beautiful teak wooden reception area and stair case. We had a room upstairs with a fantastic view overlooking the temple over the road and I often spent time watching the monks come and go. The room itself was cosy and finished again in the teak style and included a fridge with bottled water, comfortable beds, a mosquito net and television with full cable access. The bathroom was nice as well although the shower wasn't hot enough for my liking, but it did the job perfectly well. The staff were really friendly as well and no request was any trouble for them. The Hotel is only around a 10 minute walk from the centre of town and the night market, which in the evening time is beautiful. And all for $30 a night. However the WiFi didn't work at all during our stay which is fine as its a little shaky in Laos and I was woken up each night by the Monks banging their drums every morning at about 4am, but again this is all part of the experience isn't it? So I won't complain about that. So if you don't mind dodgy WiFi and loud Monks, Senesouk is the place to stay.

Clean comfortable hotel opposite Wat Sene
good location for watching morning alms procession in front of hotel
if you are a light sleeper, you might be woken up by tourists waiting for dawn alms procession outside the hotel

Nice, clean, friendly staff
Good located for spotting the monks in the morning
This hotel is not really in the center, but close enough to get everywhere walking or by bike. The hotel is across a big Wat which is very nice. You can also spot the monks do their morning tour, at 6 am, right from your room. The room was cleam with a muquitonet, which was needed.
