Great location, very clean, opposite a stunning temple.
We really enjoyed the hotel. From its location which is the start of Luang Prabang's down town, the friendly staff, and the cleanliness of the room.
There are no lifts, but it is only a 1 storey hotel so there aren't that many stairs to take.
A lot of arty little cafes/restaurants around, and the night market is only about 10 minutes away.

location, architecture, rooms
no food, no slippers at the front door, does not offer tour to guests, no bikes for rent
I enjoyed my first time in Laos because of two things: the place being really nice and the hotel where I stayed! I really liked the design of the hotel, very traditional laotian style that made me feel like I'm a local. The room where I stayed was nicely designed and the rest room is clean complete with bathrobes and towels. I would have preferred to stay in the front room with a balcony for easy access to the alms giving early in the morning but it was not available. I find the rooms in the second floor better than the one at the ground floor where we stayed. The location is very strategic (in business term)..near the wats and one can catch the early morning alms giving to the monks. The staff are friendly and accomodating. Overall, I would say Villa Senesouk is worth it!!

View of Monks collecting alms at 5.30 am from balcony.
Sound of temple drums at 4.00 am to wake monks up.
We stayed 4 nights in a superior balcony room facing Wat Sene. Room was spacious and clean. It is well worth getting up at 5.30 and watching from your balcony the procession of monks collecting alms. Rear rooms are quieter and have a lovely courtyard. Unlimited tea & coffee is available in foyer. Staff were helpful and friendly. Laundry is very cheap.
Restaurant Tip : Breakfast at Morning Glory is good, but try the Chang Inn on the opposite side of the street a little further away. A bit more expensive, but lovely garden setting at rear and more range and better food.

Location was great, can see the morning alms without getting "in the way".
ugly room, very overpriced
Luang Prabang is a wonderful city, and we ended up staying longer than we had planned. However, we quickly left this hotel after three days. We found it to be overpriced for what you get (and we were right). There are better deals to be found.
Restaurant Tip : grab some breakfast next door - it's great!

Hotel exterior had a cool style and looked very nice. Staff was pretty friendly.
Location was remote, hotel was very loud
We checked into the hotel upon arrival to Chiang Mai. The staff are a little strange, but nice enough. The first morning, we were woken up very early by music that was blasting so loud it was literally shaking the walls. We thought this might be a fluke, but it happened again the next morning. Apparently it was someone in the neighborhood and is "normal" on that side of the hotel. So, we moved rooms, but then were awoken early every morning by loud guests. The design of the hotel looks very cool, but the courtyard in the middle tends to amplify all sounds inside... so everything guests do was loud.
The location is not terrible, but it is a good bit removed from the action inside the moat. To get to the main drag inside the moat will be a 15 minute walk or so.
We used the spa services, which consisted of a couple living next door, and the massage was pretty decent. We also used the "restaurant", which was ALSO the house next door, and only had two items available on the menu, both of which were relatively poor.

the best place to catch the monks procession in the morning. the standard room is a good size and the complimentary wifi is working well in the rooms.
the shared outdoor area is more accessible via the new wing. no breakfast and restaurant
good value for money and location is right along the main streets where you can walk over to major temples, agencies and restaurants. the new wing looks better but more expensive than the old wing.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : check out the nearby tamnak lao for their day long cooking classes

pleasant and friendly villa, good value, walking distance to 2 rivers and town amenities.
There is no breakfast included and the villa does not have a restaurant. Unfortunately my wallet was stolen from the room!
Villa Senesouk has a friendly and authentic feeling in keeping with the Lao heritage of Luang Prabang. We found the stay pleasant, and staff were generally friendly. The location is reasonable, but requires some walking to reach the markets and most of the restaurants. Unfortunately, on the first night my wallet disappeared from the room! In any hotel it is important to always be aware of your valuables and keep them safely locked away. Overall, I think the hotel is nice, and I was just unlucky.

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms
We stayed here for 4 nights and don't regret our choice at all. Staff are very friendly, the room is spacious and well-quipped and the bathroom is clean. The only downside are the mattresses which are hard as a rock. We stayed in the 'old' wing (a new wing was recently added to the guesthouse).

Location towards the quieter end of the main tourist street is directly across from an adorable temple where you can watch the monks take their morning alms
Water pressure a bit low, and Luang Prabang regularly suffers from city-wide blackouts. Breakfast not included in our rate. No in-room safe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Senesouk Guesthouse. The location is perfect, just across from one of the picturesque temples where you can watch the monks receive early morning alms directly from your balcony. It's also only a 5-10 min stroll down the street to the night market, cafes, restaurants, bars, massage studios, travel agencies, and money changers. Riverside is just a block away with spectacular views. Our room was cozy but well outfitted with hair dryer, mini fridge, aircon, cable TV, bathrobes, and slippers. And they provided clean towels everyday. Staff was friendly and helpful, but spoke little English. The small garden area at the back of the hotel is great for lounging around with a cup of coffee and a good book. Only downside was no breakfast included in our rate. Plus the Morning Glory cafe next door offers cheap and hearty breakfasts, or you can hit one of the great bakeries down the street. Overall we loved our stay here and would definitely come back. Definitely take a trip to see the Kwang Si waterfalls!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Despite recommendations to take the boat up the murky Mekong River to visit the Pak Ou Caves, we found that the Tat Kwang Si waterfalls were much more interesting and beautiful! You can swim in the pools beneath the crystal clear falls. It's a real treat, especially when the monks show off their diving skills.

Great location (especially for viewing morning alms), very clean and cute rooms, air-con, and staff were incredibly nice and helpful.
We loved our stay here! A really great value! The location was excellent...within walking distance to the heart of town but far enough away from any noise. The monks' procession for morning alms takes place right outside, which is an amazing thing to see. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!!
Restaurant Tip : Just a few blocks down is a little food stand offering the best and cheapest burgers in Luang Prabang...it's true!!! Also, the hotel is right next to the well-known Morning Glory Cafe, a great place!

Hotel location - across from beautiful wat, near many restaurants.
We had a nice stay at the Senesouk. A beautiful wat is across the street and we watched the monks go for their morning walk at 5:30 am. This is when they receive alms from people - very interesting to watch. We didn't hear any noise from the wat at this time (so not sure what other people experienced).
Luang Prabang is a charming town - though a bit overpriced compared to the rest of SE Asia. We expected Laos to be cheaper - not here. But we enjoyed the restaurants (Morning Glory Cafe is a great choice for breakfast and is next to the Senesouk).
The Lao people are very laid back - make sure you ask the hotel staff to clean your room (we left out the 'please clean room' sign but our room wasn't cleaned until we asked the staff).
Nice choice for people who don't want to spend too much. It's clean and cozy and has a good location.
Restaurant Tip : Morning Glory Cafe - great place for breakfast and next door to Senesouk.

Great location, friendly staff.
Tap over basin leaked and was promptly fixed on first day. Shower bit weak. Room tad small. Nothing major.
Stayed at Villa Senesouk for 5 nights recently and had a fabulous time. Hotel is on main drag and was conveniently situated across road from Wat - we watched procession of monks for alms giving at 6.00 am from the hotel. A short stroll from shops, night market and Mt Phousi. Near to heaps of recommended restaurants. Hotel was reasonably quiet and comfortable with rooms that are typical of Asian boutique hotels. Free coffee and tea although no breakfast but next to places where you could have breakfast including Morning Glory Cafe. Would stay there again.
Restaurant Tip : Yummy Lao peanut chicken wrap at Saffron Cafe on River bank about 5 minutes walk away. Also their banana macchiatos are the best!

The balcony view (from the old building) to wat Sene across the road is great, and the neighbouring Morning Glory cafe has fantastic breakfasts.
No laundry service, no breakfast, no restaurant, cramped room
We booked the room with an extra bed, but on arrival it turned out that the booked room type didn't have room for an extra bed. After awaiting the arrival of a decision-taker, we were upgraded to a room with 3 beds and balcony acces, at no extra charge. Clean and functional room, but cramped, with no excess floor-space.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : When the gong in the Wat rings in the dark early morning (5:30), go to the balcony to see when the buddhist monks are going out for alms.
