Once the palace of Jao Boon Oum, the last king of Lao, the palace was renovated into a hotel and retains its former charms. Located in the heart of Pakse District, a short way to the Sedone River and Wat Pra and the Lane Xang Bank, the hotel is within walking distance of the Tourism Authority and Wat Pra Bat. The town centre is a short ride away by local taxi (tuk-tuk). The hotel boasts beautiful colonial architecture and the sweeping verandas give majestic views of the beautiful countryside. The rooms have charm and comfort and a new wing has less expensive but simple rooms that provide a good base to explore Pakse. The restaurant serves good local and international food. Try Delta Coffee, a short walk from the Champasak Palace, which offers some of the best food in town. Champasak Palace Hotel is easy to book - just enter your travel dates on our secure online booking form.

This hotel is worth staying in for the Price and locality. It is quiet, overlooking the river and a temple. Close to shops and restaurants.

a comfortable hotel but very dated. In need of TLC

In its day the Champasak Palace must have been quite a splendid hotel, but sadly time and what appears to be a lack of reinvestment in the building makes it a sad reflection of its former being. It has a good location overlooking the city, mountains and a tributary to the Mekong River depending on the room location. I had a river view. Each floor has colonnades around so consequently the rooms are set back a little and consequently slightly darker inside. The reception was a little better than luke warm. The room was dated with carpets (I prefer tiles, much cleaner). The bed was comfortable. The only WiFi reception is in the lobby. No English language TV, mainly Thai, despite the in room information sheet stating that BBC and CNN were available. An electricity blackout left the room in total darkness, no back up generator, and the outside window covers had to be jammed open. The hotel needs to do a lot on both the infrastructure and staff training.
