Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

Lovely to look at; but not to touch!
stylish but uncomfortable

We were very disppointed with our stay here. The photos on Agoda looked lovely and the write up in the Lonely Planet was very promising.
However we were allocated the smallest, pokiest room I've ever seen. Two tiny twin beds (not the double we'd requested) squashed together with about 50cm floorspace around the bed before you got to the wall. Bathroom was tiny and shower was erratic.
The beds were as hard as a rock. The noise from the cage lift outside (doors rattling open and closed and the bell going off at every floor) together with people walking up and down the hard wooden stairs made for a very poor nights sleep.
The cafe/breakfast area on the top floor had ok views but it was stiflingly hot - not somewhere to linger. We saw into some other rooms and they looked really nice, so it looks like we were unlucky to get a dud.

In a good location for Pakse. We had a room at the back of the hotel so no views but it was quiet. The bed was hard & the bathroom was not as clean as others we have come across in Laos. There was a TV. The breakfast on the ground floor was buffet style & adequate. On the top floor there is a lovely open air restaurant that was most pleasant for sunset drinks and went there both nights we were in Pakse to enjoy the end of the day. We totally recommend eating local & walking down to the Mekong & buying a whole fish for dinner & sitting in one of the bamboo huts.

Excellent Hotel in a quiet town
Very comfortable, nice atmosphere, convenient location

pakse is not much of a town - a place you go through rather than to - so we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. the whole interior has a really nice french-colonial atmosphere, yet the building is new and well equipped (excellent showers). comfortable beds, decent sized, perfect for a short stay on your way to other areas. the roof top dining room is a nice location for breakfast. staff are friendly and helpful.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Sunset from the rooftop terrace at the Pakse hotel, about 5 minutes walk from this hotel. The food is average but the view is great.

Awesome Location
Breakfast, Comfortable beds
8.7
I would highly recommend this hotel, but if someone has allergies to smells / scents this is not the hotel to stay at.
I would recommend the hotel have a scent free environment for people like myself.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Get up early and watch the Monks receive alms (can observe from your balcony or go down on the street...it is not full of other tourist so it is very natural.

Great Hotel with lots of character
nice big room, well decorated

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this room. The Deluxe room is much larger than the Superior room and on the corner with great views out to the river, so well worth the few extra dollars especially if travelling with children (considering you will likely only stay for one or two nights). Our child slept on the daybed that was already in the room, no need to pay for an extra folding bed, which made up for the extra cost of the Deluxe room (extra bed in the Superior room one week later cost $20). the hotel is new but they have really tried to give it a nice, french-colonial atmosphere with decorations and wood finishes. We highly recommend this hotel and don't think you'd find anything else like it in Pakse (as of January 2013).
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Go to the Pakse Hotel rooftop terrace for sunset views. the food is average but the view is great.

Bad service! personnel seems to be not interested in keeping / listening to their customers. terrible breakfast!
The room was damp, the smell was terrible.
Not worth the money. You could see many customers complaining and being angry with the staff!

Hotel with real character in central paksé
Beautiful old house, friendly and helpful staff
10
This was our favorite hotel in Laos - comfortable rooms with beautiful old teak floors and a balcony overlooking the streetlife of paksé. The café sinouk downstairs is good too, serving coffee grown on their own plantation on the Bolaven plateau. There is not a whole lot to do in Paksé, but we stayed here before and after the Tree Top Explorer trek and it was a welcome return to civilization
