Lovely hotel, great location but obnoxioux staff

Beautiful Building
5.7
The plumbing needs to be repaired: leaking taps and hot water not mixing. The breakfast is not great. The reception girls need to stop looking down on guests.

Lovely hotel, great location but obnoxioux staff

Beautiful Building
5.7
The plumbing needs some work: taps are leaking and it's either hot or cold water. Overall, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. But some of the girls at the reception are quite obnoxious. The breakfast is just ok, not up to what it should be in a boutique hotel.

Perfect location - an oasis in the city

Large room, clean, friendly and helpful staff

We stayed at The Ansara for one night and had booked the suite, which gave us plenty of room with 2 smaller children. The room was large, had a nice sitting area, comfortable beds with real down comforters and pillows. Bathroom was well-equipped and all was super clean. The minibar in the room is complimentary. The staff was really friendly and helpful with our requests. The location is perfect near everything of interest in town and close to the waterfront and the night market. There is a peaceful garden at the hotel, where the balconies of the rooms faced for a green view. The food was good and well-prepared. Breakfast was included. It was fairly basic, but good quality. Our whole family enjoyed our stay there and we would stay there again anytime!

Elegant, yet laid back hotel

Elegant hotel with down-to-earth hospitality
8.7
This hotel was recommended to us by my friend who lives in Vientiane, Laos. Upon our arrival at the airport, the staff from the hotel greeted us and drove us to the hotel (by the way, the airport transfer service was not free.). The hotel boosts elegant architecture, interior decor, and landscaping. Yet, the general feel of the hotel is very laid back, comfortable, and friendly. Our 2nd floor room (1 king bed plus an extra bed from our 11-year-old) had a small balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The bathroom was nicely laid out with a plenty of vanity top to place our personal items. The room, bathroom, and common areas were very clean and nicely maintained. The breakfast was equally enjoyable, including the made-to-order latte's and cappuccino's. This hotel is located within a short block from the Mekong River and night markets. There are also many shops and restaurants around the hotel. We truly enjoyed staying at Ansara and would definitely recommend it to others. The only thing we wished we had was a more reliable and faster internet connection. It was extremely sporadic and slow that we could only get online from time to time and visit only a handful of sites.
Shopping Tip: There weren't many shops and restaurants that accept credit cards. Be sure to bring enough cash with you as there are many currency exchange booths throughout town. We were pleasantly surprised that most businesses (including very small shops) accepted US dollars when we were short on kips.

Charming boutique hotel

Good location, attractive design
7.3
Ansara is a nice hotel for this price range with pretty and well-maintained gardens and in a beautiful colonial design. It was also relatively quiet for such a central location. We travelled wuth a toddler and were provided with a cot for our son, but otherwise I'd say it's not really a hotel for children. The garden was okay to run around in, though, and staff very friendly. The (western) breakfast was fairly standard given the room price, also basically bread, dairy and egg based so not many choices for people with allergies. Would definitely return although we have stayed in better hotels in SEAsia (and worse) - it's a good short-term option but nothing really memorable. It's just overall a better choice compared to other Vientiane hotels we have stayed in recently.

Great atmosphere in convenient place

Clean, sophisticated and convenient

All the standard of this hotel is quite high at the reasonable price. And I am satisfied with many things here but two problems with us. 1: room was not so spacious as we were first expecting. 2: there is no lift if your room is on the 2nd flood - so hard to take your luggage yourself...

Great Location and modern clean rooms

large room, great location
8.7
this hotel is perfect for our quick stop over in vte. it was located right across from the river and night market. walking distance to great dinning. the rooms were modern, clean, and well equipted. we had the suit and it was fantastic, with a large living room and sitting area. would def recommend! the service was not super helpful in terms of what to see and where to go. gave us poor directions to one place and didn't speak english well. but nevertheless, was was friendly and kind.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: メコン川のすぐ脇です。 夕方散歩しに行きました。地元の人達も散歩してました。ゆったりとした感じです。
