Boutique, great views of the Mekong, friendly staff and always having a tuk-tuk or a taxi standby. Great location and quiet. Although at times neighboring construction of new hotels gets a little annoying.
Air conditioning is horrible. It's hot in Laos of course, but at the very least there should be good maintenance of the aircon. Breakfast selection is too minimal.
You get what you pay for.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Don't ever go to the Papaya Spa. Their therapists are rough, unprofessional, and too expensive. Place is a mess, hot with no good working air conditioning, and gave a cut on my mom's nose whilst doing a facial. Horrible place.

Good rooms, helpful staff and owner.
Location - pot-holed dirt road for last 300 metres.
The hotel staff and owner/manager were very helpful, organising transport, etc. - no charge. The room was clean and had everything we expected. Breakfast at the restaurant was good - standard cereal, toast, fruit plate, juice, coffee. The hotel was great except it was located 300 metres down at the end of an awful pot-holed dirt road, it was however right on the bank of the Mekong.
Travel tip : Eating is cheap in Vientiane but splurge one night by paying a bit more at Makphet restaurant run by Friends International and staffed almost completely by homeless youths in training. The food is superb, but the young kids will impress you most of all. Do not miss.
