vientiane was our first stop in laos, so was city vientiane hotel. the hotel was really clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was included and was very good despite the choices. the hotel is very well located at an easy walking distance to them major attractions.

Our two nights stay was quite pleasant.
The junior suite had a large sitting room, with a rather old and uncomfortable sitting set. Coffee/tea making pot was provided, but the hotel was rather stingy in providing only two packets of 'milk' powder. Really, one needs at least 2 packets of that soy milk powder to make 1 decent cup of coffee!
The flooring was unusual for a hotel: it was of some kind of epoxy finish that has the feel of a simply cement rendered floor, albeit with a high gloss. Rather lowered the class of the decor. Generally, the place need to be done up to give more brightness and colour to the decor.

Stayed here in December 2010 based on reviews on this site. Hotel has a good location, centre is in short walking distance. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Value for money in line with Vientiane pricing levels (in general, Laos is clearly more expensive as compared to Thailand). Breakfast is so-so, if you go for breakfast shortly before 10 you will find most bowls empty, the few fruits available could be fresher and the sausages served with eggs were cold on both mornings.
in particular due to location and cleanliness this is a good deal and recommended.

A nice pleasant hotel in a nice quiet location. Only stayed one night but found the staff to be friendly without overdoing things. Rooms were clean and bedding very clean. There were a lot of mosquitos on the terrace outside the hotel at night but we could have sat inside and the waiter did come with the mosquito coils.

It was my third time to stay at the City Inn, and it's still a place I would return to. The location is great, very close to the Lao Plaza Hotel and lots of local restaurants and bars. It's about a 5 minute walk to the Mekong River, where there are even more places to check out. The price is right considering the rooms are nice, and breakfast and Internet are included in the price of the room. My only gripe is that the Internet speed is not always as fast as I'd like, but again, at least it's there, and working.
Travel tip:
Take a stroll down to the Mekong River and find your way over to the Sunset Bar for late afternoon drinks...priceless.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and I've grown to love it more and more each time. There friendly and courteous staff will always do anything to help and suit your needs. I usually bring along my family with me (my wife, 2 year old son, newborn baby girl) and even when were stretched thin for our morning breakfast and it's hard to eat with two kids jostling for attention, the staff is quick to notice and they almost always help by holding our baby for awhile. It's little things like that that make this hotel so great. On top of all of this it's modernly designed and very clean.
