Nice place to stay

Our travel group stayed at InterCity Hotel overnight. Tired and dusty due to the trip from Nong Khai, we were welcomed by accomodating staff who helped us get settled. They also gave us helpful tips on what places to see in Vientiance. Given a chance, we would stay there again.
Travel tip:
Just across the street, you can eat at the food stalls.

Inter City has a lovely design
The design, furniture, ambiance and fittings make this a unique and charming place to stay.
Friendly, efficient staff and a cosy feeling.
Great location right by the riverside, next to the main area for tourists.

This is a charming boutique style hotel, with all rooms individually designed/finished. The hotel has a lovely foyer with a nice design, furniture and fittings, and this design is followed through the hotel, with a 'homely' feel.
The staff are friendly and efficient, and the hotel is located right on the riverside in the main tourist area.
As of March 2010 there is work going on on the riverfront to create a new area for dining/park etc... but this will stop in rainy season (around april). However will resume in October-ish 2010.
This means that you may find it noisy during the day. And the area maybe a bit too full of this activity if you want to stay in the hotel and relax all day.
Although you most likely will be out and about. Up to you...
Travel tip:
Bor Pen Nyang next door has a bar on 4th floor where you can have a beer lao and enjoy the sunset...

Excellent location in Vientiane. Very close to everything.

Good hotel, could use a little bit more effort when it comes to cleaning the bathroom (i.e. walls and floors could use a good scrubdown).
Restaurant Tip:
check out the full moon cafe. It's a great place to read and relaz while having a couple beers.

very attractive decoration throughout lobby and on room floors. like a museum or gallery! I had a deluxe room which was also filled with beautiful objects and very spacious. great breakfast. FREE INTERNET very convienient in lobby. helpful staff.

I really enjoyed my 5-day stay at this hotel. On the map it looks like its pretty far from the center of town but its only a short walk. its also located right across the street from the riverfront food and drink vendors. very attractive decoration throughout lobby and on room floors. like a museum or gallery! Inter City Hotel, Vientiane
Outstanding location, friendly and helpful staff and a large room. The Mekong River is across the road [but about 150 meters from the road] and they're currently turning the shore into a huge park.

The Inter City Hotel is an older hotel that has been refurbished but still has the old world charm of a bygone era. Very well located along the Mekong river with lots of outdoor restaurant vendors selling really great food for a pretty cheap price. In Laos the have the Kip as their national currency but much prefer the $US so best to take along [or exchange for] $US. The people were very friendly and Laos offers a great vacation for a modest sum. A very safe country!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Laos is well worth visiting. Although I've not been to Luang Prabang I understand it's even nicer than Vientiane. The city is easy to navigate but business are not well marked but that makes it even more exotic. Great value for the money

A very popular Hotel -- with everyone, from young low-budget type westerners to mid-class Asians. Perhaps the cheap price had something to do with that. The hotel a work in progress: not all rooms equal. Stayed in a deluxe that was good-sized, but bathroom not newly renovated. Guess, how you like the Hotel will depend on what room you stay in. desk boys asked for money to park motorbike overnight. Staff friendly and well-managed.

a little off-center, but well within Vientiane's 5 block square tourist zone.
