Location is great, right on the river road and near corner of Chao Anou. Taxi and Tuk Tuk drivers all knew where it is. Many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Big room, good airconditioning. Friendly and helplful staff, many who spoke English well. Ate in hotel restaurant two evenings, food was delicious but a little pricey for Vientiene (fried dumplings were delecious)and each breakfast buffet was good too...especially the made to order omelettes. Elevator was a plus and the lobby and hall areas are beautiful with many hitorical artifacts, something like a museum in atmosphere. Good hot water with high pressue in shower.
Twin beds left much to be desired. Next time will try a double or larger. Bed was small and bad springs. I had back room with no view at all. Next time will try to get a river view.
All and all a good hotel. Yes a little faded, but the historical artifacts all over the lobby and halls gave the place a very interesting feeling, like a hotel of the later 1800's. The staff was very helpful and attentive and each shift someone was on duty who spoke English. The location is great, right on the river and well known to all tuk tuk and taxi drivers. Walking distance to many great restaurants and even the Nam Phu (Central fountain) was a cheap quick tuk tuk ride away. I spent a couple of sunsets right across the street at the river bank restuarants where Beer Lao is cheap and the sunsets beautiful. As a Gay person I was thrilled to find the new Gay GQ Bar just a quarter block down Chao Anou Road. Very nice owner, handsome bartenders and a very friendly clientele of nice Lao boys and farang gentlemen with a great sound system. I will definately stay at this hotel now when in Vientiene for the price it cant be beat!
Restaurant Tip : Full Moon Cafe is my favorite restaurant only a few blocks away from hotel. Guangdong Chinese Restaurant about a block and a quarter down Chao Anou Rd is fabulous! Big portions and great prices. Really good sweet and sour pork chops!

we had a front room and it was very noisy
the hotel is very centrally located, rooms really spacious, however, we had a room to the front, it was Saturday night and it was very noisy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was near the restaurants mentioned in our guidebook. We did have a lovely balconey which looked out over the Mekong

old, dirty, uncleaned towels, dusty, dark, bathroom smells really bad, on busy main road so very noisy day and night. Needs serious improvements!
This hotel needs some serious help! We're so disappointed. Don't let the photos fool you. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights, after 1st night we're looking for another hotel, didn't think we could make it through another night. We had the river view room which had their neon hotel sigh next to our window. Our bathroom stunk so bad we had to keep the fan running all night, shower was worst. The towels looked so old and dirty, everything is outdated, bed's hard and uncomfortable, used shampoo/conditioner, hair on soaps... breakfast was alright, only thing good was their soups. Noisy all day and night, hotel on busy road... we'd never return or refer our friends! Needs serious refurbish or new management!
Restaurant Tip : We couldn't stand staying at the hotel so we walked all around and found a nice Laotian restaurant, forget exact name but think it's called "Lao food restaurant" pretty good and decent price.
