Building work in the lobby was an initial downer. But after that, things improved. The location is excellent. We had a front room - 'deluxe' overlooking the river. The furniture and decor are attractive, if idiosyncratic. The room was clean, as was the large bathroom. Breakfast was alright - but generally the food was disappointing. Staff at reception were extremely helpful, and totally charming.

Location, decor.

Noisy renovations in the lobby during our stay

  • Restaurant Tip : The 'Cote d'Azur' has authentic and cheap French food. It's just two blocks away, on the same riverside road.

Amazing artefacts at well-located, friendly hotel. Guest Rating: 4.3

This is one of the most interesting hotels I have ever stayed in, with the central areas and stairways full of well-displayed artefacts. The friendly staff and large, clean rooms compensated for the slight inconvenience of the noise from the nightclub next door. Extremely well-located near the multitude of riverside bars.

The rooms are large and comfortable, with the deluxe room having great views over the Mekong. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Some of the rooms are next to the bar next door, so you can hear music until 11.30pm at night.

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Definitely worth pampering yourself at one of the many massage places in town - an excellent way to overcome any jet lag.

This is a good cheap option for Vientiane as it is relatively central and occupies the middle price range between cheap and basic guest houses and the more expensive bigger hotels. It is though beginning to show some signs of age and lack of attention to detail, small things like bedside light not working, cracked shower head, etc.. Nevertheless good value for the money

Central, very reasonably priced, clean, aircon and cable TV

Decor is beginning to fade and a lot of small things need fixing

Stayed in room 213: avoid!! Noisy at night, sounded like people were having a party at a bar downstairs. Breakfast selection is limited. A better choice for the money would probably be Mali Namphu Guesthouse, but you should go to the counter and ask for a room in person, they replied my email saying they were full even though they had rooms when I asked.

Rooms are clean, towels and toiletries provided.

Noisy at night, riverside location.

Great staff, a great location right on the Mekong, and interesting antiques all about and on every floor make the Inter City Hotel a great find for the business or upscale leisure traveler to Laos sleepy capital city of Vientiane. For a little more money, rooms 888 ad 999 offer very large and deluxe appointments with a sweeping view of the river and any of the several festivals during the year that will literally unfold at the footsteps of the Inter City Hotel. The staff there are very helpful and the front desk crew has a good command of English to help wayward travelers from the West. The adjacent restaurant serves a very nice spread every morning for breakfast (included in the cost of your stay). At the time of my stay the hotel was transforming an adjacent space into a new street front/riverfront bar area, which if it remains in keeping with the rest of the Inter City, will likely be the hip place to hang out when it opens in a short time.

Great location, staff and surroundings make this beautifully appointed property the place to be for business and leisure stays

A bit pricier than the norm for Laos, but a real find and much, much less than you'd pay outside this beautiful country!

  • Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Make sure to ask for a river front suite and note that some rooms are much larger than others, so it won't hurt to see more than one before settling in.

We enjoyed our stay at the Inter City Hotel, but also frustrated with the poor fitting in the bathrooms. The hotel is well located, very convenient, everything is within walking distance, yet it's far away enough not to be too noisy during the night market period. The staff being very friendly and helpful makes the stay enjoyable as well.

Very conveniently located, good view of the river especially at sunset (deluxe rooms only), staff very friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and clean. Reasonably priced.

All bathrooms need to be refitted, showers don't work properly, no hot water for the sink, electric sockets are all in the wrong place, or non-existing, food runs out during breakfast as early as 8:30.

  • Restaurant Tip : There is a restaurant worth trying, it's nearby the hotel, run by former street kids and their teachers, good food and good to sponsor the program.

This hotel is on the street that runs along the Mekong. We had a second floor room which was supposed to be a river view room. We had a sign partly blocking our window and if we looked over that and across the many stalls along the shoreline we could see a bit of the Mekong. The staff were friendly and somewhat helpful. The room was large, comfy bed, small sofa but everything was a bit rough around the edges. The air con was either on full blast freezing and blowing on the bed or off. We needed it on to block out the street noise (traffic and a carnival going on with pounding music, balloon popping games etc.) so we had to sleep with the blankets over our heads! There were some mosquitoes in the room and quite a few ants. Breakfast was toast and eggs unless you are into the Asian stuff. No pastries or croissants. I find the satisfied/unsatisfied distinction a strange one. This was not a bad hotel, but I wouldn't recommend it if you can find something quieter in the same price range. The "River View" isn't worth it.

Large room, located close to restaurants, shops, and things to see.

A LOT of street noise, mosquitoes in room, air con not able to be regulated.

The hotel itself is very good, I can not really remember the breakfast but I think it was good. And when I ordered dinner the night b4 I ordered beef hot plate or something and they did say 60,000 rip but when I checked out they charged me 108,000rip. The place itself did not like and could not wait to get out of Laos.

Clean but small. Good English movies, plenty to choose from.

No free coffee. Wrong price on menu.

  • Restaurant Tip : Need to make clear on prices of menu.

Quite nice hotel with the decorations with old Lao things. It placed just by Mekong river. It was quite easy to find foods in the evening, however, still quite. There was a bathtub in the bathroom.

I could see Mekong river from the window. I loved to see the river in the morning and in the evening. Also, it was very easy to find foods aside the river, especially in the evening.

Nothing.

  • Restaurant Tip : I tried "Jum Jum" (Lao style steam boat) on the river side in the evening. I can not remember the name of the restaurant, though, both steam boat and barbecued salted fish were great!!
