Centraly located, courteous staff, 24 hr services and convenient business centre. Decent value for money.

Laundry and dry cleaning far too expensive. Some of the Western dishes offered could be improved on.

Prompt service and seamless check-in, key waiting at reception. Excellent laundry / dry cleaning 3 hour express service. Good kitchen open 24hrs a day. Friendly staff, free airport pickups and reasonable priced, well maintained limosine services available with private driver. Very quiet rooms, well maintained. Excellent central downtown Vientiane location.

Travel tip : Good French restaurants 3 minutes away by the Namphou Fountain. 10 Minute walk from the bank of the MEkong River.

I think the best hotel in Vientiane. It has great staff who helped me with some traditional medicine for my injured ankle. The food, the room, the pool and everything about the hotel was brilliant.

none

The Laos Plaza was just what we needed. It has everything we wished for. Great pool, great rooms great food and the location was very handy to most interesting things in town and not too far from airport. It also had a very comfortable bed not to hard like some asian hotels. We couldn't have asked for anything more and we would definitely stay here next time.

Hotel Feature Tip : The buffet was the best and the staff were really attentive.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and it is in a good location with good buffet breakfast in the morning.

Internet is an extra charge and hotel was under renovation at time of visit so some usual facilities had been moved around.

Would stay there again, but would check on renovations before booking.

Nightlife Tip : Some nice places to eat and drink at the nearby fountain.

central location

hotel old, datedd and smells staff not friendly, English poor

stayed there for one night. central location is about the only advantage. breakfast (comp) was average at best, rooms were old and dated, internet very expensive, hotel really really starting to show its age. Good hotel if you are there for a conference onsite but otherwise way more attractive options around time. we left after one night and went to a hotel across the city...

Comfortable, up to Western standards.

Big and impersonal

The hotel is best for visitors who want the creature comforts of a Western style hotel and don’t care too much for local color or atmosphere. Rooms are nicely appointed and bland, the hotel has a swimming pool, hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is centrally located on one the main streets: just down the block from the (quirky) National Museum, and a short walk from restaurants, the river, and a few other sites.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Close to Vientiane's tourist attractions

Centrally located. One of the very few places with a swimming pool. Excellent gym. Good buffet breakfast.

Internet is very expensive compared to the many guests houses which give it free or cafes just over the road which do likewise.

The Lao Plaza Hotel is an ideal hotel on arrival in Vientiane for the first couple of days until you get your bearings. During this time you could then decide if you think the hotel is worth the difference in price between many of the excellent mid range hotels. It is located well. Is clean and would rate as a four star standard in most western countries. Overall pretty good value for money and clean and tidy.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Save money by using the local cafe or shops for the internet.

Perfectly situated for the airport and within walking distance of the majority of Vientiane's sights.

This hotel is in serious need of a make-over.

The Lao Plaza is ideally situated within a 15 - 20 min drive from the airport and is also within an easy stroll of some of Vientiane's most famous sights and good restaurants. The hotel is staffed by a team of very friendly and professional individuals who go out of their way to be accommodating and helpful. The rooms are very basic and are in need of attention. The hotel has a good pool which presents an ideal way to relax and unwind after a day taking in the sights of the city. The gym is well equipped and surprisingly modern. Be warned, Vientiane is not the best place in Laos to sample their culture and scenery; it is a short stopover at best. While we were staying the Secretary General of the UN was also in residence, I'm not sure if he booked with Agoda, but I think he did, anyway it gives you an idea of the standing of the hotel relative to the others in the vicinity.

Restaurant Tip : Take a quick stroll from the hotel to the Nam Phu fountain and there you will find a number of good restaurants and one very good pub with live entertainment.

the hotel is convinently located and within walking distance to many local cafe and restaurant.

The room provide very minimuym in term of comfort, you can only expect the basic. With what you are paying, it can be quite a disappointment. The services and attitude of staffs are pretty lay back.

I regreat not to book another 5 stars Palace Hotel with very little price different, the food is lousy and the cocktail are bad, I must say it's a big disappointment with the surranding and the hotel; especially when we have experienced so many beautiful hotels in Thailand.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Strongly recommanded to hire a taxi for packaged day rate if you have a few places to visit, the local taxi can be tricky by going in circle when the restaurant/place you want to go just a few steps away. Bad impression of the country and dishonest people.

The hotel is located close to shops and eating area. The hotel is clean and has all the amenities that you would need.

I personally have had bad experiences with having a woman assisting me checking in at the front desk. I have stayed at the hotel twice and twice it's been a woman assisting me. They seemed to have an attitude and are not very friendly or accomodating. I eventually ended up with a guy that would finish up with the processed and he was very professional and was welling to assist me with my request. Next time if I stay at the hotel I would wait for a guy to assist me.

I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Overall my experienced at the hotel had been pleasant. The hotel is clean and has all the amenities that you would need. The hotel also has a security guard which made me feel safe and a peace of mind that I am in a safe place. The hotel felt like I was in my own home. Lao Plaza would be the only hotel I would stay at when I visit Laos. The cleanliness, the amenities, and the convenient is some of the important things I look at before I book my reservation. Overall my stay was pleasant and most of the staffs are friendly and professional.

Shopping Tip : I found that the hotel is a walking distance to the main shopping center and other boutique shops. The hotel is convenient to most of the shops and eating places.

nice, helpful staff.

Poor breakfast, expensive restaurant

I like staying at this hotel. In my opinion it is about 30% more expensive than its equivalent in Thailand, but overall I was more than satisfied. Good pool and gym + sauna, jacuzzi and steamroom. I felt that the breakfast consisted of a lot of things that I would best describe as yestersay's "left overs", such as sandwiches which obviously came from the bakery. I think a better breakfast would encourage in-house guests to try the expensive lunch and dinner options.

Nice clean lobby..great staff..very helpful.

Bathroom was not quite a 4 star clean standard. The faucets in the sinks were not cleaned, grout were black and brown in some parts of the bathtubs. Overcharge for every little thing. Internet was 12 USD a day- EXPENSIVE when other hotels are offering for free.

Was impress by the clean and nicely decorated lobby and most disappointed at the size of the rooms and the cleanliness of the bathroom and tub. The staffs were friendly and helpful! For the money we were kinda disappointed. Would rate only a 3 star.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : When getting a thuk thuk..walk away from the hotel because the drivers will charge double or triple seeing that you're staying at the Lao Plaza.

Great location in middle of the city, next to the National Museum and Cultural Center. Nice rooms. Good service. Probably the best overall hotel in Vientiane.

A bit expensive for Laos standards.

Stayed for one night in late March 2009. Hotel honored my reservation even though I arrived one day late due to Lao Airlines flight cancellation (common occurrence so be careful). Probably the most "western" of all hotels in Vientiane.

Everything was great can highly recommend this hotel and staff. The hotel was extremely clean and tidy, the food was excellent with a choice of in-house restaurants. Great karaoke bar or a very relaxing lobby bar with nightly live music, the bed room was very quiet with excellent air conditioning, and a extremely large bed with well stocked mini bar and bath essentials.

Good location, spacious rooms, spotlessly clean.

None

First impressions of the hotel were very favorable. The lobby was large and impressive, the staff were efficient and friendly and check-in was very quick. Our room was very clean and the decor was nice with attractive Lao style bed furnishings. The decor did, however, verge on the dark side, and with the day being overcast, lights were necessary during the day, but not a problem as far as I am concerned. The bathroom was not terribly large for a hotel of that quality, but certainly adequate and spotlessly clean. Comfortable bath towels and slippers were provided. After returning back to the hotel fairly late our first night we were treated with some suspicion by the hotel staff who erroneoulsy assumed my young looking Thai wife may have been an 'unregistered lady of the night' so I had to provide my room number while staff checked the computer to ascertain there were indeed two of us registered there. The second night I am pleased to say it was pleasant smiles and good nights all round. The breakfast buffet was very good, with plenty of choice of both western and Asian food. It was well laid out and well-stocked and both mornings we practically had the dining room to ourselves. Location was good, being walking distance to the river side area, the National Museum, the Presidential place and Wat Si Saket. There are much cheaper places to stay in Vientiane but all in all we were satisfied with our stay there, and would stay there again if we can get another good deal on the price.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The National Museum is next door, the beautiful Wat Si Saket just down the road, and the riverside area a short walking distance away.

Great service

Expensive by comparison to some of the other good hotels in the area

Another enjoyable stay, though a little expensive this hotel compensates by having a good location, within easy walking distance of many nice locations and by having very friendly and attentive staff. The pool and fitness centre are of a very good quality and the various foods that can be ordered from the on-site restaurants or through the room service menu would surely meet the needs of most pallets. A nice place to stay...
