Great location and wonderful staff

this hotel was well-located in the old town by the river. it was easy to walk to many of the vientiane's great and historical sites, and there were many great restaurants, bars and shops nearby too. the staff was very friendly and helpful. we loved our stay.

Excellent Service!

We arrived at the hotel not sure what to expect. We were greeted by a very nice looking building in what looked like a very good location. The front desk was very welcoming. We went up to our rooms and what a great room.
We had a nice room, a window that could open, perfect AC temp to begin with, a nice huge jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Did I mention the tub had 2 separate sets of nozzles to operate, and this nice color changing light. It made me actually crack open the minibar for a few drinks in the tub. A first ever for me and my vowing to never use a minibar.
Another oddity is that every hotel we booked claimed free wifi. This was one of the only hotels that you could actually access from the room, bathroom, or downstairs. And none of the dreaded out hotspot stopped working last night that we kept getting in 5 other cities on our trip. Our room also overlooked a temple. The temples aren't quite as nice in this City as some other cities.
The only real negative I could find, and this is a stretch but at least you can tell I was looking hard to find something, was the weird doorway design with a 3"+ high 2" wide hard edged lip separating the bathroom from the bedroom. A minor annoyance on our stay, but I still have my black toes from hitting it hard one night after being out late.
The front desk was very good at giving directions to places we were looking to walk to. They were also good at setting up tour stuff for us. This was one of the few hotels on our South East Asia trip where it felt like the hotel wasn't being given money to book with other companies.
No mosquitoes inside, a clean spacious room, and friendly service; this is very hard to beat.

The hotel and the room I got are great.
Breakfast was normal, not very impressive.
Hotel staff are friendly, speak English well, polite and helpful.
Hotel should offer free Airport transfer, however they charge more than private arranged transport or taxi.
Hotel provides paid tour which I had, driver could hardly speak or understand English. The tour wasn't great due to this, we were only being dropped off and picked up, no introduction to the points of interest at all.

just very good. and a decent price. close to everything and very clean. this 50 word minimum is a nuisance, but i can always meet it by writing this. i mean, what do you want from a hotel? clean, good service, location, etc (and this hotel has all that) and no screw ups (good maintenance, friendly staff, getting answers to questions etc--and they did that dine too.) so what's left to write?

Great hotel in the heart of it...lovely service

We loved our stay at the Salana...from the moment we checked it til checking out all the staff were extremely helpful giving advice and tips. The room was huge...with great views down to the Mekong. Breakfast was fine, pretty standard with the choice to order a range of eggs combinations. The night market is just a short stroll at the end of street with great eatery on the corner for beerlao and tasty food. We had no troubles with internet access, with wi-fi connectivity. Would definitely recommend and stay again. It is up there for prices of accommodation in Lao, but we enjoy making sure we get the best sanctuary for a big day exploring.
Restaurant Tip:
At the end of the street on corner near night market...great ourdoor hawker restaurant...great food...loved the fried rice!!! Yummy!
