Macau

From temples and green gardens to huge hotel casinos, nighttime entertainment and an exciting beach life on its outlying islands, Macau is home to a thriving tourist industry. It’s one of the wealthiest cities in the world, and as one can imagine, Macau hotels and restaurants can be lush and lavish.

For cultural and historical excursions, travelers can explore the A-Ma Cultural Village, modeled after the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty; the large shrine offers a look into old-world China. There are a number of walking tours throughout the suburbs and hills as well as through the closely knit network of temples and parks, including the serene Lou Lim Leoc Garden, a charming arrangement of miniature trees and walking steps. History enthusiasts will be impressed with the old-world cannons of the Mount Fortress, built on a hill in the 1600’s overlooking the surrounding area.

Macau is largely town-like, looking like a large-scale village deep with history but with a modern tinge with luxurious hotels and restaurants. The area is exclusive and well-preserved, as if a miniature of old-world china were placed along the waterfront and isolated. Travelers to Macau can expect a range of tourist activities: sporting events, festivals, museums, walking tours, cultural exploration and fine hotels. Guests can take rickshaws around the area and along the waterfront or jump in one of the tour cars and explore the great many museums and monuments.

Macau has a popular nightlife, well known for its wide range of things to do, from discos and pubs to excellent restaurants offering a variety of tastes. Visitors can enjoy a colorful cocktail on one of the many brightly lit and bustling streets or a romantic night in the cultural center before heading back to the hotel of choice.
