Best Western Sun Sun Hotel, Macau

The Best Western Sun Sun is near the river in the Old Town. That means that you can walk to all the important historic sites, but be prepared to get lost as you navigate the historic meandering streets. I actually enjoyed getting a little lost, but I had a map to eventually find my way. I cannot comment on the standard room that I reserved since I was persuaded to upgrade to the Executive Floor. The argument went like this: 1) your room will not be ready until two hours from now but we have an Executive Room available immediately 2) your room does not include breakfast but if you upgrade, you will get breakfast included 3) only the Executive Rooms have been remodeled 4) you will be on the top floor with a nice view 5) you will have free internet. I was tired and wanted to check in right away, so I upgraded, but it cost an additional per night. The room was compact, but attractive and the amenities were of high quality. The breakfast choices were American, Chinese, or Dim Sum. A couple at another table chose the American and they were not too pleased with it, but we chose the Dim Sum and it was very good. The Executive Floor has two computers located in the lounge for internet access. The staff speak English and are friendly and very helpful.

Location is why we return to this hotel. Probably others that would be just as good but booking online makes this one very easy for us. We did feel that Best Western should have given us some kind of credit for the terrible night's sleep we had on the 3rd night. Will write directly to Best Western for some compensation. Otherwise would re-think using again.

Room was ok, not flashy and in need of some repairs, but overall satisfying. But I wouldn't return to a hotel where a stray dog is treated better as its guests. We arrived shortly after noon and were told we had to wait till 14.00 Hr (official check in time) OR if we paid much more for an upgrade, then they would allow us to check in immediately. As we refused this generous offer, we were forced to wait for 2 hours. When we finally arrived in our room, it turned out that they gave us as revenge the room with the most ugly view they had. I would never complain about this, but the hotel was empty during our whole stay, so why did they had to piss us off so much, trying to get some extra revenue from an upgrade we didn't want ? After 15 minutes, we found out that the TV was not working due to a bad connection of the signal cable and the TV. The helpful technician wanted to solve the problem by giving us another TV, but was ordered by the management to take it out of our room immediately. 2 days later they "fixed" the problem with...Scott tape ! It worked till I opened the fridge under the TV.
