I have stayed at the Grand Lapa a number of time and keep coming back. The unique state of the art gym equipment, a beautiful lagoon pool with lush surroundings and comfortable lounge chairs are the main draw for me. The rooms are nice size with comfortable king size beds only found in much more expensive hotels in asia. This time around I was a disappointed in the service and a la cart dishes at the Cafe Bella Vista. Often the orders were incorrect e.g. omelettes missing or containing ingredients not ordered. I don't recommend the late or cappuccino as they were watered down and weak (go next door to the sands they have a new Starbucks). Also many of the items on the menu were not available. Use the WIFI at your own risk as the signal was poor at best and the cost was unreasonable considering the speed and fluctuating signal.

Although the recepionist of Grand Lapa is nice and advisable, I think I will not choose it cuz it is really old decoration and not worthy of staying in thie price. And the bellboy is not welcomed and without smiling.
Shopping Tip:
quite nearby Grand Lisboe.

This is a great hotel with really expensive shops, like, LV, Chanel, and etc. has a great spa with a Thai restaurants. The room was really nice, very cozy.

This hotel used to be the Mandarin Oriental until they opened the new one by OneCentral. Sitll very nice, thought the rooms were somewhat dated. I mean the TV was still CRT, not LCD. The bathroom was also small.
I really dislike the 160 MOP charge per day for Internet access. This really needs to be free.

Used to be flagship of Mandarin Oriental in Macau and still manged by them so service is first rate. Room style is like HK Mandarin Oriental of 20 years ago - lots of dark, built in woodwork. Had nice view overlooking the big pool, spa, restaurant area that fills back of complex. Hotel is next to original Macau Sands casino, which is older but has cheaper but good buffet vs other casinos. Didn't try Lapa food, but look a look at buffet on the way out and it looked pretty good. Other guests - seemed to be smaller groups vs big tours. On weekends would expect it to be full use to nice pool, kids playground, etc., so great or families. Would recommend if you don't need the most modern room but want good service and facilities.

Best feature is big pool with water slide and kids play area plus next door to Sands

the hotel itself is old, you can tell. but the service was pretty good. it's right next to the sands, so you can nip there for your gambling fix. other than that, it's just a place to sleep after a long day of gambling and shopping.
