I was impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel for it being only a 3 star. However, the staff was not helpful at all. I needed some directions to a visa office and everyone that I asked quickly answered, "I don't know", and then turned away without bothering to even try to help out. Overall, it was worth the money, but if you are looking for good service, you should look elsewhere.
Clean, conveniently located with shopping on one side, and the Macau Tower on the other.
The staff was not very helpful.
- Shopping Tip : Head out the front door and turn left. At the corner, turn left again and head down the road for about 1 minute. On the right hand side you will find a small street prime for shopping and eating.
best price value in the center

The metropole is located in the central of macau town and surrounded by all the high class hotels like wynn, mgm, lisboa, etc.
The outside looking is not the nicest, but honestly, are you looking for a beautiful outside or a comfy place to stay...?
the hotel is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
the room was quite simple, but equiped with all the amenities i need for a good sleep in a hot country where you are sweating while only breathing :)
hot/cold shower, air con, tv, minibar and clean.
If you are looking for a lot of extras, like a spa, sauna, inside casino or similar the metropole is maybe not the first choice for you. If you are looking for a central, nice, clean place to stay i can highly recommend this hotel. The restaurant located beneath the entrance is a bit higher priced, but you get there real good chinese food. If you want to use the hotel access point you should look for a room in the 5th or 6th floor.
central located, quite cheap for macau, friendly staff, clean
nothing specially, maybe for my taste mattress is too hard.
wifi access for HKD 150 for 1 day is quite expensive.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Worth to see is the macau tower and if you like the thrill you can do the highest bungee jump in the world.
Also fantastic to see is the venetian. It is a hotel and casino, but they also rebuild there venezia, with the typical water streets, buildings, bridges, and a artificial sky.
Staying there means you will always have late afternoon in venezia...:)

Old rooms, need to renovate. In the website they say hotel has fast food but being only single restaurant. They also say they provide shuttle bus to airport but end up no service (still provide service only to ferry).
great one

My partner and I made a short 2 day visit to Macau from Hong Kong. Unlike some people who wanted to go for 5 star hotel resorts, we just want somewhere simple, quiet and resonably priced. Metropole was a good choice. As we stepped in for check in, it looked very different from its pictures on the website, it's newly renovated and is much nicer. The room we got was on 6th floor, fairly quiet at night, the bed are wonderfully comfortable. Staffs were friendly and helful. For the small price we paid, we felt like being in a 4 star hotel. Its location is just excellent, not far from theLisboa casino, and not far away from the Leo Senado square, which means just a 15 min walk to the famous Ruin Of St. Paul. If you arrive by ferry, there are frequent shuttle bus service, just ask at the concierge desk.
Excellent central location, free and frequent shuttle bus to and from Macau-HK ferry terminal. Clean room, comfortable bed, good bathroom facilties. Quiet at night, away from the casino areas frequented by street walkers. Newly renovated!
No breakfast, apart from that, none to speak of.
- Restaurant Tip : Don't try the Ristorante Solmar opposite the hotel, we did and regretted. This place used to be very famous and good. Nowadays, the origianl chefs have gone. The food was extremely over-priced, service was poor, the food quality was a scandal! We just think there are plenty other better quality and cheaper Portuguese restaurants all over Macau for us to try.

Margeret's cafe is nearby. I have tried Portugal Tart and it's very delicious. Bus in Macau is very convenient but you need to prepare many coins, if you are travel around there.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : many casinos are around the hotel.

Metropole is a good place to stay for budget travellers. Just avoid the breakfast if you have an option.
