cozy hotel but inconvenient location

we were upgraded to luxury room because it was my friend's birthday. we could also check out 1 hour later than usual. the hotel services was generally good. however, the location of the hotel is a bit inconvenient. you need to take taxi if you want to go to sun ma lo or farther places.
Restaurant Tip:
you can go to "3 yuen" for very nice congee

View was great from 17th floor, taxis are cheap and easy to get. The hotel also has a shuttle service, but we usually took the taxis. There is a small pleasant casino in the hotel, a nice change from the new giants populating Macao. Very nice large bed and bedding, good size tub and nice amenities. One negative was that the pool and gym was closed during our stay. Their website had said this would be finished by Jan. 1, but true to my luck in the casinos the new date was after our departure.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
it is a nice walk to st paul's cathedral and the shopping square around it.

Big rooms, dirty bathroom

The lobby was lovely (though smelled strongly of perfume, filtered in just like Vegas) and the desk staff very efficient. Free wifi in the Lobby and restaurant. The room was large but not so clean. There was urine all over the rim of the toilet bowl when my husband lifted the seat, urine caked on the floor around the toilet, and dried on to the outside of the bowl dripping down. Disgusting. They sent housekeeping to clean it immediately, but with no apology or offer of even a complimentary breakfast or anything. When housekeeping cleaned it he then asked if it was ok, and it was still dirty all over the floor. I showed him that which he cleaned, but still the outside of the bowl was a mess. Totally unacceptable. The carpet in the room was also filthy - there were spots and stains all over the place. They should really have the carpets cleaned. The beds were quite hard.
The pool and gym are under construction till Feb 2012 but if you ask for a room away from that area it's ok. There is a temporary gym set up but no free weights.
The location was away from the main casino area but close to the old town which was more interesting anyway. You can take the hotel shuttle to/from the ferry but it ends fairly early in the evening.

we really enjoyed staying at royal hotel; we highly recommend it to those who are after a clean and convenient accommodation. unlike other cheesy hotels, royal hotel is very modern, clean and staffed with well-mannered staff. you won't be disappointed.

A typical 4.5 star hotel
10 mins. walk to the city's main attraction; hotel is clean, provides good service and staff are helpful/friendly

everything was almost perfect, nice hotel & location, staff are nice especially the filipinos who could speak both filipino and english, weather was good except that clothes/other stuff are expensive compared to hk.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
it'll be nice to visit macau during -ber months til january since the weather is super nice. staying in this hotel can takes you to the city's main attraction such as senado square, ruins, etc. don't forget to try their portuguese egg tart, so yummy.

Had a good stay at Royal Hotel. There are many good restaurants around the hotel. Easy to get taxis at the hotel entrance. Senado Square is 15min away if you get the directions right.

From front desk to porter is nice there. Just a bit noise in the morning for the room service. Also hotel is offer us a late check out on weekend, its worth to recommend this hotel others and revisit later.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Catch the free shuttle bus schedule, not too much taxi there.
