we stayed in pulai desaru beach resort for 3 days/ 2 nights over new year and really enjoyed it very much. the hotel is located close to the beach ( which was quite clean ) and has a big pool which expecially our 2 year old daughter liked very much. beside the nice pool there is also a indoor and outdoor playground for kids which was always full of kids ( good sign )on the beach they have hammocks where you can relax and listen to the sound of the ocean. unfortunately the waves and current were very strong ( 4 people drowned that weekend on this spot ). the room was quite big , the bed comfortable and the food we ordered via room service tasted good as well. the claeniness was ok ( its not a 5 star hotel were you can expect perfect cleaniness ) but the breakfast was only pretty standard and the aircon in the ( small but ok ) gym was defect.
overall we were quite happy there and would recommend it to our friends for a short getaway.

Average hotel with lots to improve on

Among the hotels in Desaru, this hotel is one of the cleanest. Breakfast is not as fantastic as Lotus and hotel facilities are also not as good as Lotus. Except the staff service, rooms and overall cleaniness are better than Lotus. The SPA massage were horrifying, the masseurs were chatting and farting and bulping... unbelievable. The gyms equipment were old and they close the pool at 7pm daily. Houseflies are everywhere in the restaurant, hard to have a decent breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Hotel has nothing much to do as a matter of fact. Visitor has to explore the places of interest nearby like ostrich farm, fireflies, fruit farm and etc. My family loves the Seafood restaurant along Sungai Renggit the best.

location is gd, but there were ants in the room during my stay. Unfortunately, I did not get to try the spa as they were fully booked. Hope to try the spa next time around. The room i had was very spacious.

pulai desaru is always my top choice when visit to desaru. this 5 star hotel is fully equipped with huge swwimming pool and great beaches.
the hotel is recently newly renovated. the room are spacious, clean with comfortable interior design.
there are fun filling activities, cycling, swimming, gym, sea sports and beach games. the spa is a must try!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
There is GoKart nearby, RM 35 per 15mins time slot. Cheap and good. This is a must try.
For the night, you can enjoy the firefly tour via the hotel arrangement.

Friendly hotel

This is a place to chill,nothing happens in a rush. We had four spacious rooms for our party and they varied in standard of repair, only one had been upgraded. It is a family focussed hotel but as kid free adults this was never an issue.
Shopping Tip:
Alcohol quite expensive and not served in the halal dining room. We managed to buy takeaway beer from the hotel next door

the rooms were large and very comfortable. we had an upper floor with balcomy and great views. the hotel had a very relaxed feel - staff being a little too relaxed at times - but very pleasant stay and great beach. the restaurant wasn't very good and staff here did not really seem to know what they were doing. this was also applicable to the bar staff. the beach bars were not manned at all. reception staff - on the other hand - were a lot more friendly. the reception area was a bit bland and could be a bit noisy with some of the games.
Restaurant Tip:
You could walk along the beach up to another hotel. The staff at the beach bar were extremely friendly and there was a variety of restaurants. This made the stay at the Pulai very acceptable allowing guests to get decent food nearby.

thought hotel was clean enough. however, room service takes very long. during my stay. the new towels and cleaning, if there is though, came in only after 5pm. they run out of pool towel by 11am... sigh. other than that. the hotel is pretty decent with new reno and spacious room.

Great location but poor maintenance

In total, we booked 3 rooms. The hotel was kind enough in trying to get all our rooms close to each other, despite the peak period. We were quite satisfied with our two standard superior rooms, though there were some problems with the bathtub. The loft, however was way below our expectation (for a four-star hotel that is). The furniture looks old, and the carpet was kind of an eye-sore.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Don't miss out the firefly. Be there around 8pm, enjoy some seafood dinner before boarding the boat. Please note that the journey in from the main road is about 3km, and it will be quite dark. So don't panic. Just stick to the Firefly signage and you will be sure to see the place at the end of the road. It would be much cheaper to have your own vehicle, as compared to using the hotel's sightseeing service.
