Good location and quite place. Limited basement parking. Hotel little old deco, not much facilitis available and no wifi. Need to be upgrade, room size slighly smal for couple with child. Front desk staff is friendly and door attendance is helpful.There are plenty of good food in Ipoh city such as Dim Sum in Fushan Restraulant.
Shopping Tip : Walking distance to Ipoh Parade bigggest shopping center in city.

4. A third rate SPA that offers dubious services that does not match the status of the hotel The stay was bearable until the last day when I lost the room key. The staff do not know how to handle the situation until I requested to see the General Manager. Fortunately, the GM handled the situation well enough and on time for us to go to the airport.

Near to the city.
All my request was met.
Friendly staffs.
New carpet and wallpaper in the room. I thing the housekeeping needs improvement.
Reception staffs talking too loud at the lobby.
The hotel looks good starting from the lobby to the rooms. Rooms carpet and wallpaper are new. I had a room based on request i.e. single bed, smoking, high floor. The location is good as it's near the city. The staffs from the reception to the housekeeping was good.
Hmm, i've never stayed in a hotel with no bath towels in a room. I had to wait 15 minutes from the housekeeping while being wet in the shower. What an experience!
Travel tip : ha ha ha, i would advise you to check for towels before you shower!

Good and quiet location in Ipoh Decor is pretty old and run down. Needs upgrade. Service below standard. Reasonable price hotel. The hotel is pretty old and not well maintained. Service is below par - no towels in room and takes some time with a reminders before it is delivered.

Rooms are the best as compared to the other hotels I've stayed in Ipoh before.
Nice and clean.
Loved the customer service at the frontdesk. More varieties at breakfast. However, its still decent. Good.
Location is just a little out from the town itself. However, with a transport, its not an issue at all. Would not hesitate to stay in this hotel when we return to Ipoh again. Ipoh is considered more of a laid-back nice town so, considerably, their service totally rocks. We rode our bike all the way up from Singapore and there were guards to ensure our bike was safe all night long, as we were a little worried about safety concerns. (parked right at the side entrance)
Though a little pricey as compared to all other hotels in Ipoh, you would never want to compromise cleanliness, safety, comfort for that measly amount of money.
Restaurant Tip : This chinese restaurant doesn't look fantastic from the outside, but they serve REALLY good food, especially their boiled soup! Its just opposite Excelsior Hotel, called Overseas Restaurant / Hai Wai Tian(海外天大饭店）.

service at reception are good bulb at hotel room are not working ,air cond not so cool , and iron & iron board are totally spoil . price for the room are fair and value for money. location of the hotel are good . near to ipoh city can find many delicious food , drinks and night life there . near to many shopping centre . going to gua tempurung only takes 40 minutes to reach.

The swimming pool was large and quiet though not very sheletered from the car park.
The huge size of the premium deluxe room was worth the little bit extra The effectivenes of the AC throughout the hotel was not that great but when we were there it was 34C We chose to stay in Ipoh rather than Tanah Rata for our sightseeing of the Cameron Highlands and we found this hotel quite convenient as the road up from Ipoh was a much easier drive than the long windy but scenic route back down from Tanah Rata. The Hotel was as expected and resonably comfortable as they have partially renovated the rooms and ours was clean and relatively well presented( not quite to a KL standard). The view of the surrounding mountains was good and the staff were extremely freindly, welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was on the basic side but still okay. Prices for food and beverages throughout the hotel were cheaper than KL and the quality good.
Nightlife Tip : Go to the new riverside cafe area for a nightime beer or coffee- atmosphere was great and the setting delightful.

great lobby for a 3 star hotel room : space - ok, cleanliness- good, staff- helpful , swmming pool and health fitness- scary, room- back dated and smells, food- satisfying I was lost on the way to the hotel. On the website the address given was wrong. The hotel is not on gopeng road. Called the hotel staff for directions and they gave a complicated and wrong one. In the end I find my own way after 2 hours going thru the small city. Overall, not a bad experience at all.
Shopping Tip : GSC is just at10minutes drive..yey, movies!

Large room with an excellent view of the surrouding hills and race course. The hotel is a bit out of town. Although I mentioned to the front office staff that a globe in the bathroom needs replacement it was not done. The hotel is a throw back from a different era. Large rooms and the decor with marble bathrooms. It is showing its age. It is on a well treed avenue but a good 15 minutes walk to town. Popular with family groups so can be noisy with children running around.
Restaurant Tip : Walk towards the Excelsior hotel, Ipoh Parade shopping center and you would find many street food that Ipoh is famous for.

Good pool Ipoh is one of those places which is kind of in the middle of nowhere. We went here as my friend knew a family local to Ipoh and so wanted to visit while we where in the country.
The hotel is in walking distance to a local plaza (about 10 mins walk I would guess) and does offer, at a cost, some local tours.
The included buffet breakfast was really good and an excellent selection of food was available that I suspect it would be hard for somebody not to be happy.
A nice clean hotel with good staff.
Shopping Tip : If you wander into the plaza (from the hotel this entrance will be the one with the Starbucks) and out the other side, turn right and walk up the street to an interesting area full of good restaurants and bars. Sorry I do not know of a better way to say how to get there.

Good location for town centre. Hotel is about 3 minutes drive from town centre, but you could walk it if you can handle the heat. Carpets in room were old, but were being replaced while we were there. This is not an international hotel by the standards at major world cities, but for Ipoh it was OK. There is a pool at the rear of the hotel which looked OK and there is a big car park. The rooms are not very big but OK. The rooms are currently being upgraded with new carpets and I think in other ways as well. The breakfast was adequate. I would stay in this hotel again.
Restaurant Tip : Lots of great reastaurants in Ipoh if you like chinese food which is very cheap compared to UK prices.

Bad car park area. Not many choice of breakfast. I am so surprise with their car park condition... can be best described as Tempurung Cave. I can see the water dripping from the top. The scenario is dirty but not natural.
Hotel front desk also weak and no system. They have a long list on paper but difficult to trace!! Why I said that?? My name was inside the list but they can't find it!! Still asking me through who I made the reservation.... in fact I have handover my printout from internet which indicate a BIG heading "Agoda".
My experience is hotel will only asked for IC or passport, few verbal clarification and sign off the paper. Do you know what they asking for?? I had asked to fill up the form myself like name, IC, no of night, car no, etc. As a customer I have to check in myself??? First experience in my life, and i hope this will be last too.
Conclusion: I will not vist them any more even they are willing to offer lower price. Strongly not recommended to stay.

Low cost and good quality with a good selection at the inclusive buffet breakfast. Carpets were showing their age. The hotel is ideally located near to the town center provided you have a car or are prepared to use a taxi. It has maintained its standards since the last time I visited some 10 years ago. The pool and breakfast selection are of a high standard. There was some construction work taking place to the rear (3rd Oct 2008) but this did not disturb our stay.We'd recommend the hotel.

The car park is a open roof and if possible, shelter car park will be more convenient for the hotel guest. New upgrade of the hotel outlook will give an advantage to be more competitive with other hotels around.
