The hotel is ideally located near to the town center provided you have a car or are prepared to use a taxi. It has maintained its standards since the last time I visited some 10 years ago. The pool and breakfast selection are of a high standard. There was some construction work taking place to the rear (3rd Oct 2008) but this did not disturb our stay. We'd recommend the hotel.
Low cost and good quality with a good selection at the inclusive buffet breakfast.
Carpets were showing their age.

The hotel needs to be upgraded, it looks old. The bed, the door access, the carpet, the furniture. Basically the entire hotel needs to be refurbished.
The car park is a open roof and if possible, shelter car park will be more convenient for the hotel guest. New upgrade of the hotel outlook will give an advantage to be more competitive with other hotels around.
Service of the staff was good.

The Casuarina is a very good hotel to stay in to explore Ipoh. It is on the edge of the city but it is walking distance. It appaered that not many people walk as the pavements in the area are uneven and hazardous. Taxis are readily available and cheap and it was good to be a little out of town. It is not far from the main bus station that takes you to KL or Penang etc
The rooms were very comfortable, large and good beds. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good.
No criticisms
- Restaurant Tip : There is excellent hawker style food to be had everywhere in the city. Tables and chairs are set up on pavements and casual dining at these is great and extremely cheap. It is an easy place to get around

Ipoh does not have too many big hotels so overall, it is not bad. I don't mind going back there again.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Check out Kek Lok Tong.

This hotel's pool is good, but if it was bigger it would be excellent.

In Ipoh you can find a nice shopping mall and nice restaurants. And you can´t see many Western tourists around. So don´t be suprised if you find yourself stared at (in a curious manner, though).
