Nice hotel and room

Mutiara hotel still my 1st choice coming to stay in Johore Bahru. Its not a new hotel but the room is kept clean and tidy everytime. Location is near to shopping mall and food. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful.
Room is good in size with comfortable bed. Breakfast is good with good choice of food and taste.

Posh & elegantly designed Hotel

We arrived around 7.40pm. The check in was extremely fast and efficient. Staff is attentive, friendly and helpful. We asked for king sized bed, non-smoking room, good view, high floor & under the newly renovated wing. The staff which is attending obliged & immediately assist to get one such room for us. Upon entering the room 922 I found that the bed sheet & toilet floor are stained with black stains and immediately asked for a room switch. This was done fairly quickly with the keys brought to our room for the switch and saves us a trip down to the reception. Room 904 was reappointed, however the room does not come with complimentary bottled mineral water which most rooms come with. It was send to us speedily upon request. By then we discovered we have left one bag in room 922, we retrieved our item back efficiently accompanied by the staff. Excellent staff services I must say! Bed was large and comfortable and the lighting smoothing & we fell asleep instantly. The night city view was magnificent where one can spot parkson mall, holiday plaza mall, KSL & 11@century hotel. Breakfast was good as there are great varieties. Personally impressed with the hotel cutlery as they are squeaky clean where many hotels are lagging in these area. Late check-out at 2.00pm was entertained as well probably due to late check in the previous day.
Cons- no Wi-Fi and small swimming pool. If you are adventurous type, can head up the small lane opposite Holiday plaza shopping mall, you will discover BBQ cum steamboat buffet eatery, traditional porridge restaurant, convenient store that sells cheap beer (approx RM6.50), economical chicken rice store that served good selection of chicken and pork meat, fried pig intestine, sliced fish and you can washed them down with yummy piping hot chicken porridge.

convenient hotel

We requested for a twin bedded room which was not available but they upgrade us to a suite room which was a bonus. Bit noisy from the train at back of hotel but room was quite comfortable. Breakfast was good, although not a great variety but quality is good. Kids love the egg station that they keep going back for more. Parking was a bit hassle as you need to walk quite a bit as nearby to lobby area is usually full. Swimming pool was not too good, very high chlorine but the kids enjoyed it anyway.

Not so pleasant

I checked in around 5.40pm and was told to wait while the Front Desk Associate went to check if the room is ready. Came back about 15 mins later and told me that the non-smoking room was not ready yet and could only provide me with a smoking room. I was tired after a long day drive so settled for a smoking room but the tobacco smell was really bad. Rooms were abit worn, shower was leaking. In the end, after dinner, decided to request for a room ch. Fortunately, non-smoking room was available and proceeded with the room change.

Superb service with personal touch

Relaxing and comfortable stay. Warm and friendly staff. Centralized location near to customs and JPO and KSL resort. As it's a Business hotel, it's more quiet than other hotels. The food is very delicious as well. Very nice bathroom and bathtub. Thumbs up!
