Stayed a night in this hotel, one of the best hotel i have ever stayed in. Clean rooms, nice environment plus a good location to all local eateries nearby. Recommend this hotel for those who are on vacation in JB

Comfy bed, spacious rooms and bathrooms, CBTL coffee machine in rooms
Rooms are comfy and spacious. CBTL coffee machine in room for guest usage but capsules are only provided for the first night (no refills the night after ). Rooms also comes with all basic amenities including iron and hair dryer. Rooms are clean and towels are new. Hotel is abit run down and it's quite a distance from the car park to hotel lobby (walking up stairs with luggage or waiting for the lifts). Breakfast was extensive but food has to be improved. The cafes aren't inviting, but its dark and dead, no music or staff aren't seen anywhere. My room was make up the next day but the housekeeper missed washing the used glasses. The closet sliding doors fell apart in the middle of the night and it was no way to be put back in place. Room lace curtains were torn and 2 plug points aren't working. Overall a comfy hotel with enough facilities but hotel should be well kept to be called a 5 star hotel.

Disappointing Stay
Location, View,
Plain and ordinary. We were taken for granted from the moment we arrived. The bell boy didn't listen, the reception took for granted that we would be happy with an' upgrade'. The room we were allocated didn't feel like an upgraded room. It was warm as the air condition hadn't been serviced in a while and the phone in the room did not work. It was hard not to feel that the staff felt that this was acceptable as it was an 'upgraded' room. I would like to see the Thistle listen to its guests and provide a real upgrade when they are unable to provide the room that was booked.

A General Improvement suggestion
Location, quietness and convenient
Overall appearance of the hotel has remained unchanged since I first patronized this hotel in 2003. Somehow, I always noticed that their plumbing is not in perfect working order i.e. water leaking and spilling out of longbath flooding the bathroom floor and leaking at the water closet. Suggest that they consider changing the bathroom fixtures as their current one are long overdue. Maybe a hand shower in a bath enclosure (cubicle) is more appropriate whereby water usages are likely to be lesser too. Lightings in the room need improvement as it is currently too dark especially when the guest needs to do some paper work. Location of power socket are insufficient at where the working table is located.

View, view, view
The hotel is old, run down and lack in maintenance. Most places were leaking during rain. The interior of the room brought me back to 80s. I booked executive room and promised with executive check-in/check-out, daily newspaper and breakfast but to my surprise no daily newspapers was brought to my room and I was denied for breakfast. The food in executive club lounge is limited and made you feel like it was prepared last minute. The best thing from the executive lounge was the view. Tried the massage and spa available in the hotel, the room I went to is run down and creepy. Best thing is that they never clean up the room after customers have used them before me.

Very disappointed
Terrible, the hotel failed to reserve room for my booking, eventually ask me to transfer to other lower grade hotel room. It has completely spoilt my holiday mood.
